Don’t use aluminum foil. Besides onions or potatoes, you could a ceramic saucer or Demi-tase cups to support that chicken.
@michaelnobibux28866 жыл бұрын
You can use a small rack to keep the chicken off tne bottom!

Is it safe to put aluminum foil in the slow cooker? I have never wrapped up the onions like that
@PetersKitchenCorner8 жыл бұрын
I would have to guess yes since we put aluminum into our ovens and cook at much higher temperatures. But I see your point, didn't even think about it. I think the worry with aluminum pots is the prolonged exposure of our food cooking in aluminum vs a short small. Great question.

Yes. I take it out of the crock pot and brown the skin before serving. Some people I know brown the chicken before putting in a crack pot.

do u cook on high or low?
@PetersKitchenCorner9 жыл бұрын
+Gimena Loggins Very good question. I notice on the video that at 0:50 the left light (small green LED beside the timer) is on the slow cooker, and I just checked, it was on high. I'm thinking now that I might have switched it over to low by about 3pm knowing the chicken was done but we wouldn't eat for another hour or more. Thank you for the great question, it's all part of the learning process how to present here on KZbin.

I have a question: what is the purpose of wrapping the onion halves with foil? Is it to reinforce the onion so the chicken stays elevated on the onions?
@PetersKitchenCorner8 жыл бұрын
Once the onion cooks it gets soft so the chicken would go down to the bottom of the slow cooker.
@carolannetitmus88786 жыл бұрын
No, it doesn't there is still the crunched up foil and the onion does not fo flat.

I've washed my poultry prior to cooking for years and never had a problem.
@vetgirl712 жыл бұрын
Not true, you just wash your hands, very simple way to prevent cross contamination! 🙄 Been cooking for over 40 years and washing poultry, no one ever got sick. Including my ancestors! Also soak in diluted vinegar, when you see how much slime comes of your poultry you will be surprised what you didn’t get off the chicken just rinsing it in cold water 😂

SC it does makes chicken cooking easy, and using far less power than using a fan oven. BUT it falls apart big time, bit of a pain to lift out, then you have to de bone and their are a lot of small boney bits to fiddle with while the bloody thing is read hot....The breast are the only parts that don’t disintegrate. It Tastes nice though. Just fiddly.

foil in a slow cooker is not a great idea.
@PetersKitchenCorner8 жыл бұрын
Good point. At the time I didn't think much of it. If I did it again I'd use potatoes instead of onion on the bottom that way the chicken would stay elevated without having the aluminium foil.
@tarnz237 жыл бұрын
Brent Smith theres nothing wrong with aluminium in a sc. I wrap them up in little balls for certain recipes where I dont want it submerged in water.

The no aluminum foil in a crock pot is an urban myth.
@zed80836 жыл бұрын
@ Brent Smith -- Why? How does it make a difference? Explain please.
@carolannetitmus88786 жыл бұрын
Because if the chicken sits on the bottom it sits in the juices and comes out more like a stewed chicken.
