Another great video mate. Got a story for you. Fishing the fad 7 k's off Sydney a few years back. Catching dollies throwing yakka's at the fad. My mate puts a livie on his hook and then stops to give me a hand. The livie's hanging in the water at the side of the boat and a dollie grabs it. Over the side goes his 2500 stella and rod. Without hesitation over the side goes my mate and disappears under the water. Myself, my mates daughter and the deckie are staring at the water when up he pops with the rod sideways across his mouth. We help back into the boat and then he just winds the dollie in like it was all part of a days fishing. Anyway, looking forward to your next video.

Awesome video mate ! One of the only videos in English about slow jigging that really covers all the bases , another thing to add , to stay vertical you can sometimes use a drift sock of have a spanker installed on your boat to align with the wind , look up Japanese anglers secrets , tons of really good info from Japanese slow pitch jigging pros , you’re spot on though man really killed it with this video

Great video! I live in Portugal and jigging works great. We just target different species. I am starting out on this technic and that is why I am here, and so far, I have learnt , and although targetting diferent species, tips and tricks applie regardless, I guess. I got myself rigged with a daiwa certate for the job and I've been thnking about a way to attache to the boat so I don't need to dive in after it, specially in offshore fishing. You dove after the OCEA setup. Right now, the sea temperature is 14º Celsius here in Portugal, unless I has a full change of clothings, I would had to go back and be treated for hyperthermia. That simple. In the summertime, it's not much different, sea temps don't rise above 21º in southern Portugal, but where I live near Lisbon does not rise above 19º. But there are upsides to that, we do not have sharks. Again, great video and thanks for the tips. Cheers!

Drop how to slow jig into KZbin, and I get Sammy! Thanks for the tutorial, using these for our groundfish is a pretty new thing around here. Mostly for Ling Cod and Halibut, but sebastes (rockfish) will occasionally eat them too. Not a new thing for tuna, of course. But I've never used them for tuna, so there's that. Be on the Pacific at first light in the morning with an arsenal of these things to try out! Thanks again!

Hey sammy love your work mate. On these sort of videos or all videos in general can you do a bit of sounder chat. Depth of water, water temps, what you are looking for, are you running split screen ect ect. Thanks for the video Sammy, Im slowly going through all your videos from oldest to newest and I appreciate the tutorial videos. Please keep givin us info even if you think its irrelivant and you have said it a few times. Quick jigging question - if we dont have a specialised jigging rod, how do we know our rod will be suitable for the jig we use because i dont want to break my rod using a lure that sis marginally too heavy for it?

Mate - as awesome, quality vids! I am just starting to get into slow jigging and have a question about overhead/baitcast combo. I usually fish the local reef in 30 metres of water for snapper and pearlies. Just grabbed some using 80g slow jigs. Looking at a combo - love your thoughts on a suggested rod and reel match. Would you suggest run with the baitcast line feed option (Lexa) or something like the Daiwa Saltist 18 15H. Not up to the Ocea Jigger type budget as yet I am afraid. Cheers mate - keep em coming.

Hey Sammy, always enjoying watching your videos and learning a thing or two, please keep em coming! Question for you, do you only drop when you see decent arcs on the sounder? My usual terrain will be drop offs and broken ground in the drift.

Anthony Cheers mate! Plenty more coming up as well! Yeah I will look for shows on my sounder before I drop. Certain fish won’t really show up as strong, so you do have to be looking at the sounder pretty closely 👍🍻🍻

Really nice vid, Sammy, watched all the way till the end, loving that AJ and the stonker Pearlie, I do quite a bit of the slow pitch jigging around Sydney and have the exact same Shimano ocea set up, there are more small crowd Japanese maker like deepliner, beat, evergreen that make good SJ gears too, you'll get Jewies, trags, orange perches on the SJ too, I even once hooked a blue morwong on the back, 4 hooks could be a hassle for both the fish and the fisherman....

Awesome video but I have a question: you say 1 gram per m for jig weights. Where I fish offshore from Yeppoon you can be 120km offshore but it’s still only 17m deep. A 17gram lure seems silly, and yet a bigger profile just turns weary shallow fish off. So this only works in deep water yes?
@mase443 жыл бұрын
Hi really good show and I’m a fan. I just one question can you slow jig with a spinning reel and rod or does it have to be a proper jigging reel and rod set ?

Great info Sammy. I bought a bunch of shimano flat fall jigs recently to try slow pitch jigging. What is the average or deepest depth that you generally fish at? I have a reel with about 400 meters of line. Hoping it’s enough. Saltist 4500 spinning reel.
