Ahoy legends! This week is a video of epic proportions! I drop an 800gr jig down 560m and It gets eaten!! By far my deepest fish on a jig yet! So how did this all eventuate? Well good mate Shauno and I had been planning a trip to some remote sea mounts for almost 3 years. Recently we were able to line everything up to actually head out there! As you are all about to see the result was nothing short of mind blowing! New species ticked off lists, big fish and an amazing new spot to cross off the bucket list. This is the first of 3 videos coming your way and let me just say this, they only get more and more insane!

Just completed 800km’s today between Richards Bay through all the Drakensberg passes all the way to Nylstroom Limpopo and I reckon 1 of the things that kept me and my fam safe and awake between the 100’s of coal trucks on the road was the thought and knowledge that by the time I get my family home safe I can sit back and watch a Sammy fishing adventure!! Pure gold mate!

Outstanding!!! What a SammySunday. Actually had to watch it twice because the first watch was with the sound off and just staring at the water conditions. You definitely got a well deserved weather window. One question? Jogging in 560m Quote “ my forearms hurt” Really? Back to the jigging in 560m, firstly, top effort. Secondly, what drugs are you on, how much do they cost and which Bikie gang sells them. Slowly warming to Shauno, he was a bit lower key. Thank you so much for what you do and share.

"500 meters .. Sounds like i should jig that! " 😂 It warms my heart when rod/reel brands decide to make such a niche product just to make anglers happy, and not just to make the most amout of money :D It shows true compasion for the sport and should be rewarded with brand loyalty :D

I do enjoy fishing, but I'd take a pass on the deep jigging. From living at 815 psi it's whole life, to then sudenly be drawn up to sea level 14.7 psi in minutes; the fish are toast and likely suffered immensely. You can see the last blue-eye's eye popping out of it's head.

Fish do not have pain receptors like humans and other animals do. All Fish have an entirely different physiology, if you knew about Fish, which apparently you do not. Fish that are drawn up from deep depths to surface pressures give into shock and thus are not in any excruciating pain. By the time they reach the surface they are numb from shock. Bleeding the fish out is what eventually kills the fish. This is a humane kill, no different than how Tuna are killed and shelved on your local grocery shelves.

@@bulletsforteeth5029 At the anatomical level, fish have neurons known as nociceptors, which detect potential harm, such as high temperatures, intense pressure, and caustic chemicals. Fish produce the same opioids-the body’s innate painkillers-that mammals do. And their brain activity during injury is analogous to that in terrestrial vertebrates: sticking a pin into goldfish or rainbow trout, just behind their gills, stimulates nociceptors and a cascade of electrical activity that surges toward brain regions essential for conscious sensory perceptions (such as the cerebellum, tectum, and telencephalon), not just the hindbrain and brainstem, which are responsible for reflexes and impulses.
@pizzawhisker
@pizzawhisker 2 жыл бұрын
@@bulletsforteeth5029 It's not up to a person to determine the level of pain a fish feels. Unless you can talk with an animal, there is no way for you to know how it processes sensory input.

@@itkovian11 A mate and myself once brought in the same Lesser Spotted Dogfish (boat, South Wales, UK). It had taken my bait, got hooked, broke loose a grip lead... swam about 25m across the flow of the tide and then took my mate's bait. I can only conclude that the fish was not in pain/distress from being hooked... but dry hands, bad handling, high temps and changes in pressure are without doubt detrimental..

Dunno if you know this one. Cut the bell of the squid open and lay is flat, take off the little fins on the side. Put the squid steak in a ziploc with milk and soak it overnight - this removes potential parasites (supposedly) and it helps peel the "skin" off. once the skin is removed, pound it with a meat tenderizer and treat it like Abalone. Breaded and deep fried, pan fried in butter, you can even grill it!

I’m from California I live on a lake with a dock for my back yard. Most all of my fishing is in freshwater like in my lake or a river. But this is the very first time I’ve ever seen an electric reel, I’ve heard of them I’ve just never seen one before. I’ve done my share of salt water and a lot of spearfishing over Catalina island and back-and-forth but I still never seen electric real, kind of impressive but looks like it might take some the fun of the fight out of it, but i’m not judging. Heck I wouldn’t mind having one myself, I’m 69 years old will be 70 in a couple months so cranking on the real for a couple hundred yards with a fighter kind of wears me down these days. Thanks for sharing this, it was a lot of fun and good luck guys. By the way great video
