I got a new slow pitch jigging reel and really wanted to use it in deeper water. It's a Daiwa Saltiga IC 300 with a built in line counter and level wind which means I can totally focus on the fishing, without worry of counting colours for jig depth and using my thumb to feed the line evenly onto the reel. The reel also holds 550m of 28lb braid but weighs only 405g
Also picked up some new lures and a rod from the Ocean's Legacy New Zealand range and headed out from Omaha to fish in 50-65m using 130g-170g jigs. The fishing was steady in the morning, I basically caught a few fish on each jig, and then changed jig colours, overall I found the Sardine (blue/silver/red) colour worked best.
