Slow stitch bird & art happy mail ​⁠

So thrilled with the little envelope of joy that my creative buddy Heather from ​⁠‪@creepycutiecrafty‬ sent me this week. Filled with the most incredible art created by Heather, many featuring my much loved birds (and fit so well with the current Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery too) and amazingly intricate pattern designs. #happymail

It’s so lovely to hold on your hands something that someone has created, half a world away. I am so grateful to YT for allowing me to connect with kindred spirits the world over.
On the same day I also received a package containing an eBay purchase. The slow stitch goodies was a set of antique or vintage linen button cards. Just adore them!

I was too young when the metric system came in, but I think the notation is for six shillings. Fantastic score, and no I’ve never had and of these buttons at all.

Aww lovely happy mail. Bird is supper adorable love this design, all of it was lovely. Linen buttons nope don’t own any, mother of pearl yes have these love using them my very favourite at the moment though is metal buttons, love the wonderful designs on these so cute and pretty, have a few with bunny’s and cats on oh my talk about cute 🥰. Thanks for sharing your gifts and treats with us all. Have a lovely week, me I see the sun! Yep been missing for a while and brrr snow is all around still a nice blue sky today aww so want to go walk to the beach maybe check out my white bait area the season is nearly upon us, yum yum.

Wow, I've never seen a linen covered buttons in person. Those are incredibly beautiful! I do have a few mother of pearl buttons. We will be going to my Mom's grave site next week, on her Birthday and 1st anniversary of her passing. While we are in town we're going to go to her house and look again for the button collection she had wanted me to get. It has buttons from 4 generations of my family. I hope I can find it this time. I will need to look at my old buttons and see if I have some as yours are very lol. I have buttons from an uncles step-mother who was a seamstress. Some of her buttons are works of art. Now that I am learning slow stitching and making journals, I can incorporate some of them. Thanks for the inspiration. ❤❤❤

Wow! Thank you so much! And you have my permission to use the scribblings as you wish! I’m glad you like them. 😊 I think you’re right about the pattern-type-of-brain! I think it does make the blackwork easier, or at least certainly more engrossing! 😂 (And no, I didn’t do a preliminary drawing for the bird. I used the image on the card as the starting point though) I love those buttons. The aging on them makes them seem very tactile.
