Great video Christine, my Son recently added the Canva app to my iPad and your video will definitely help me to create pages for my Instagram account. I have been trying it out, but now you have given me the confidence to explore its possibilities more. Love the page you created. Thanks for sharing.

I have the pro version. I tried to match the background of a picture like you did with the eyedropper. I did not see that eyedropper on the pro version. I'm sure it's there I just need to do a little bit more research but that was a huge tip. Thanks so much

Thank you for this great information. I have been ironing fabric onto freezer paper, the kind that has that very thin shiny side. I iron it onto shiny side. And so far it has worked well with my printer. I am really interested in that software.

What a useful piece of software Christine, isn't it amazing what you can get for free these days? It seems pretty intuitive to use, especially if you have a touch-screen tablet like that, love the fabric you've designed, it's going to be wonderful in your project. Thanks for a handy tutorial and for the interesting story about Fanny Charsley, I hadn't heard of her. I've done similar printing on fabric by ironing Reynolds freezer paper onto the back of plain calico cut to A4 size - that enables it to go through a normal printer, then when you peel the paper off it leaves just the printed fabric, no residue is left from the paper and you can use the paper more than once too. Handy tip for people who happen to have the freezer paper already, if they want to try without buying the printable fabric :)

What beautiful and inspiring gifts from Heather! Really lovely. Dribbling over your linen buttons too, and fascinated by the writing on the back. I reckon it's pre-decimal money - I think you still had pounds, shillings and pence until the 60s?? We didn't go decimal here until 1971 and I remember that a "/" sign or even just a shorter ' was used to show a shilling, for example 6 shillings and sixpence could be written "6/6" or 6'6" and if it was exactly to the shilling it would be 6/- so it could be that maybe?? The "/" could also mean "per", and I think maybe the word could be "card", so six per card or six shillings per card. Six shillings woudl have been 30 new pence (I remwmber my Gran doing th conversion for years after we went decimal!) which seems expensive though for the time?? I also found this article advertising haberdashery in an Australian paper from 1910, which is fascinating, you might enjoy it - trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/5251363 It actually includes "sets of linen buttons, six dozen a card, plain or two-hole, 3 1/2d a set" - i.e. threepence halfpenny in old money. sorry, I think I've gone all nerdy now :)

So pretty! You must be enjoying a lovely holiday as we speak? We have always been amused how computerised voices pronounce Australian roads. You will need to learn computer pronunciation to navigate anywhere! I always have to ask Siri to ring Lochie, (pronounced with ch like cheese) or she doesn't understand. I wonder if our language will evolve to computerese?!😆

It's very sad to think that 50 to 100 years from now, people will not be able to look back at today's fast fashion creations like we look back at make-do quilts. The crappy stuff bought now from big box stores will end up in landfills by the next 'season' and plowed to oblivion. There aren't even any fabric feed sacks anymore because all the sacks are made out of plastic - which WILL be around 100 years from now. (BTW, have you ever tried a sashiko thimble? I want to make one and I think I'd actually use it because I don't use the fingertip thimbles either.)

Such lovely fabrics and bits and bobs. Aww those buttons looked lovely. My oh my the last trim bag how interesting. So many beautiful fabrics. Aww butterfly needle book! Such a great idea and yes would be wonderful. Have a lovely weekend. Me I know it will be quite, one of our passes has a massive rock fall on so we are cut of, aww I see bread making in my future so much fun especially when the fire is going. I got a big bag of fabrics the other day and ekk talk about wonderful so going to do a little ironing today, is already sorted into colours as when I hung it after washing I placed in colour mode so much fun. Well must be of little house work but or ironing and then I can sew for the day, yep me relaxing by fire, cat has already claimed the best position gotta love these quite wet days.

That is such a lovely piece! I love those cute ribbon petals. Never tried those yet, but will try those next weeks. Dog fur everywhere is just so normal 😅. When I returned from hospital, I cuddled one hour with my buddy who refused food after my second day away and was so mourning my absence. After the long cuddles, he felt much better and I looked as If I got my pre-winter coat. 😂 So good to be back and to have some weeks of recovery. Means: plenty of time for creativity - Bonus 😅. Have a lovely and creative weekend!

That’s fascinating- the different layers of quilting fabric is for additional warmth, I guess? Or just to update designs? (The old English Paper Piecing quilts here were formed using old personal letters folded into hexagons - the unfinished quilts are another slice of archaeology!) Beautiful finds there! The bird and flower design is especially gorgeous. I hope your drawing workshop gives you a bit more confidence in your creative skills. And of course I hope it’s fun too!
