I take another drag off of the fast dwindling cigarette between my fingers and draw in its apathy for me. With a smokey exhalation two parts social camouflage and one part sigh, I lean my head against the cool glass of the window and dream. Rain is falling outside in a lazy Colorado spring drizzle, the runoff slashing down the sides of the steep uphill street to this cafe. Half-murmuring to myself with the other half wishing someone knew and would answer, I ask, "Will I ever see her eyes again?"
