There are hooks on the body that tighten under the dash that holds the hood lace on. There is also a bracket under the dash at the top corners at the firewall (both sides) that would tighten when the original hood rods bolted to the firewall. Good luck

There is product used to prevent runs in paint. Iseen it put on with a brush an comeout smooth as glass.

I would think it’s related to metal on metal contact rubbing. Could be fender to cowl contact, or body mounting points.

sound like loose linkage or at least something metal jumping up do you have a front anti rollbar ? could be one of the mounds broke
