Love Loudon, uniquely original genius. Brilliant live, saw him at Regent s Park open air theare in the 70s, and many times livee on TV and on radio. He's always brillint, a real entertainer, whose songs are great social, and personal commentary., Really make you think, and laugh- bitter sweet. Severely underrated.

Wow! Seen Loudon live a couple of times but much later in his career. Great video. And was that Dick Gaughin introducing him?

Loudon Wainwright appeared in three M*A*S*H episodes from 1974-75: Rainbow Bridge, There Is Nothing Like a Nurse, and Big Mac.

Hi It's Loudon.... not Louden.

Thanks for that, now corrected. People still talk about his solo concert in New Zealand in the 1980's, wish I'd been there

You realize that’s him, right…? LW3 corrected you. ✊LW3

I met Loudon in London after seeing three shows on three days and shook his hand 24/4/2024. He said he recognised me. Have been a fan since 1975.

This is really mediocre compared to other artists of the era, and he isn't very funny compared to Utah Phillips or anything

Aw, Swimming Song is great.

Why make comparisons pitting this musician versus that musician? Why make music some sort of competition ? And...who made you philosopher king to judge ?

let’s hear your music then. you’re just some loser trying to talk trash on a renowned and respected music

Loudon isn't mediocre and he is funny and he is talented. Utah Phillips was not a talented singer, was no doubt a fine and good man, and was on a different trajectory altogether. I don't see why they have to be weighed against each other like they were both swimming against each other in the Olympic 200m freestyle.
