The best shihonage I've seen, and the crushing finger grab also makes a great come along technique on it's own. Man I wish I lived closer to your dojo. Keep it coming sensei, this is very practical teaching...

I would like to see a past, present and future of kokyo nage. I have kind of a sumo build, am a singer and tuba player, so I have a big vital capacity. I'm curious on how you maximize the opening of the hips and the whole taking of the space with the breath. I would like to see how you transition from the projection to the straight down. Thanks, man. Dave Sokol, Saratoga Aikido, Saratoga Springs, NY.

Sal Pinzone I think you mean Sankyo? Yes I'll be doing a video on that technique in the near future.

Yes, sorry miss spelled Sankyo, can't wait to see the video

Great video. I appreciate all of your vids and how you clearly/effectively explain the techniques. I, too, was interested in Sankyo. I trained more traditionally, and I use Sankyo often as a LEO, so I would really like to learn from you the TenShin expression. Keep up the great work. Craig
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
t11ish Sankyo from our perspective is usually applied in combination with the use of yubi dori (finger locks). Since your an LEO maybe I'll do a Sankyo video in relation to your job and how it would work when you are about to handcuff someone. Amongst that I'll show how to use it as a pain compliance technique during an altercation. Title... "TenShin Aikido for LEO'S - SANKYO very much!!"

Another interesting video, good stuff.....Sensei please please please can you shed some light on kokyu. Ive tried to research the term to get to the bottom of what its all about but am no nearer to any understanding. It seems various throws seem to have that label attached but nobody has been able to explain what it is, what is going on and how you "do" it.........the more I research, the more confused I get and the more woo woo it all sounds. id really like to understand the principle/technique, establish if it's for real and how to develop it into practice without the hit and miss nature of learning techniques. I understand its an advanced technique/principle thats probably difficult to describe and takes years to develop but Id have thought and body mechanics/movements/principles should be explainable in logical terms using physics etc. Just saying "breath power" doesn't really help and thats what people seem to say, I think that term is akso somewhat misleading......so what the f### is kokyu!? Ive seen videos of Hitohiro Saito, Isoyama etc demonstrating kokyu nage in various forms and it's obvious they have a lot of power but folk say the power in aikido doesn't come from strength, seems like somewhat of a contradiction seeing these guys literally throw people across the room but not using any strength. I know the principles are to harness momentum, add a bit of your own energy and aikido happens but that doesn't help to understand where this kokyu power comes into play :? ....... Onegaishimasu. Steve from England, UK
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
aasou I can't promise you anything cause I have a very busy film schedule to follow. and..... yes Kokyu is very difficult to understand and explain, so I don't know if I can explain that in a video to where you'll understand what I'm doing.

how did you get so fast lenny......... and how many years chris been doing this? more than 8 years yeh?
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
afiq radzi I just trained myself with hand deflections to get faster and that just transferred into my teachings. As for Chris he's trained with me for almost 10 years now.
@afiqsince867 жыл бұрын
thats about the right years requirement to get to at least a shodan yes? i myself trains in aikikai. but i think the way tenshin take(deflects) attacks are much more in tune for me personally. as someone that moves slower like myself i find it difficult to tenkan away (from a shomen for example) unscathed like most leaner guy does. so i find that this type of deflects in tenshin very accommodating for me. is uke nagashi tenshin exclusive btw?
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
afiq radzi Ukenagaeshi is a kenjutsu sword deflection that seagal transitioned into empty hand training. So yes it's an exclusive TenShin aikido technique.

hello sensei lenny Can you give me an advise? I trained aikido for 1 year. I think its a good system. Watched some krav maga videos and i am not sure if i should do some krav maga. do you think krav maga is good for self defense? would be nice if you give me an advice. thank you.
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
AdamSpice Sure... Krav is a good striking self-defense system in my opinion. so if your looking to add to your aikido training that might work for you. I've never FORMALLY trained in Krav but I'm very familiar with it's training. I have cross trained in a couple out disciplines my whole martial arts career. Although it's all about what the student is looking for and willing to commit to. I've been training for almost 40 years in the martial arts. So that no d's show how much I was willing to commit to.
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
****so that right there shows how much I was willing to commit to.
