I call this Aiki otoshi, but I know that the names for techniques vary from school to school. Quite a few people use the term Jujinage for the technique I call jujigarami. My school uses jujinage for the throw some other schools call ude kime nage. And I’ve seen that throw called hijinage as well! So let’s not panic too much over alternate names.

It also strikes me that in this scenario, the nage is late to the party to parry the attack. If you end up removing the uke’s hands from your throat and they end up in that position continuing the more-obvious position of sayunage might be easier than reaching for the legs, which exposes you to other attack. Just doing an Ed Sheeran (thinking out loud).

@@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS13 I wish I had the aikido connections to do that, I just know some aikido from the various martial arts I know and you guys are the experts when it comes to aikido and I didn't mean any disrespect with my different requests, I just been watching your different videos and certain issues within the aikido community that your channel been addressing, so I'm just suggesting and putting out ideas for more content. Plus aiki-grappling could start a boom you know.

Yeah I get it. I’ve already done a few videos pertaining to AIki grappling. Those videos did well but no one else did videos to add to the interest within the aikido community. I’m actually at a point where I don’t care if aikido evolves within the aikido community to become more practical. I’m only one person and I can’t do everything. If there were 100’s more with my mindset and open mindedness then I’m sure things would change. But as I see it the aikido world doesn’t care if their aikido is effective or not based on how the community is addressing this, which for the most part they’re ignoring it.

Part of the original allure of Aikido for me was the negative reputation. I've had 2 real situations arise since beginning. First time I was assaulted by a couple goons on a walk and went the peaceful route not knowing if they were armed. Second situation was a family member attempting to use me as a punching bag, this is where the training had paid for itself. I pinned him, no damage done. His pride was hurt and decided to call the cops on me. I'd be in jail right now if I had smashed him but with a couple tenkans, pseudo sankyo uras and hand deflections I am free.

I asked a bluebelt judoka for the common grips in judo he gave me this, now could you make a video where you either break those grips or manipulate and counter with aikido? -sleeve lapel -russian arm and sleeve -lapel and russian arm -double lapel -lapel and armpit grip -mongolian grip

@@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS13 kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoWqfWqLmZiHapo I think it's the one where they grab sleeve and belt, I could ask for more clarification otherwise. I have background in other martial arts but I want to prove a point regarding aikido being effective and I know what approach to take while still staying pure to it's teaching. I have very little knowledge of aikido, but I learnt some techniques at about 8 years old and been able to use it many times in self defence throughout my life.

take JUDO grab in the no gi tournament or in self-defense on a sunny summer ... ... by sport you mistakenly identify JUDO with only kimono holds, but the truth is that most JUDOs starting sparring without a kimono at the beginning have a hard time finding themselves in a situation ...

This is one of those demonstration techniques that has zero application. Not because of the technique, but because it's defending against something that's never going to happen. Unless your being attacked by Frankenstein's monster. Krav Maga people demonstrate defenses against this same thing and its pointless. If you're back is against the wall and they're pinning you to it, maybe there is an outside chance you could end up in this position. But I'm not sure the technique would work the same way in that situation.
