Yes, in fact Smørrebrød began as a quick & humble lunch - last night’s leftovers placed on buttered bread to be taken to work 👍🏻 It has of course now been elevated to the status of almost being a work of art, with its own rules about what order to eat them in and what toppings belong together and what not, and how it is always, yes always, to be eaten with fork & knife!

Sorry, had no idea! Is that a Scandinavian thing? We just thought all the colours looked great when seen together this way, didn’t mean to offend any culinary rules. Would be great if you told us a bit more about this rule, what are the origins etc. Always great to learn new things. Thanks!
