Mr.. your little trawler is the SHIZ!! (mean HAPPENING!) YOU went over majority of the boat in 11 minutes and your boat is awesome! I am looking to purchase a 25ft. Nortic Tug, but it's gotta have a small bathroom. See I live in Connecticut and I wanna purchase a small boat to live on, travel up down into Long Island Sound up into the Hudson River and take the Erie Canal into the Great Lakes, or into Lake Champlain into the Saint Lawrence River into Hudson Bay.. It's awesome going through the locks and just being on the water! But your video is awesome!!

@falcor86
@falcor86 9 жыл бұрын
Top fun guy Yeah those Rangers are very expensive brand new, especially the bigger ones. We are looking at used 21EC, which is their smallest, and cruises at 6-9 knots while sipping fuel at about 15-20nmpg...pints per hour. We're looking at 2008 and newer models just for reliability ease of use reasons. Even still those little things are well within our price range. I also really love the large back cockpit: www.rangertugs.com/R-21EC?tour=yes&=vt.prestigevision.com/ranger-tugs/ma497/embed.html (mute speakers) which will be great for entertaining. One day we'll need something bigger for longer trips and such, but for now the 21EC is damn near perfect for our needs. But enough about that. I just wanted to give you a shout out after the last commenter. It seems some people just don't understand that different boats appeal to different people, and not to assume what you want out of a boat is the same that others do. Making a statement such as "It's not very good for cruising" when I'm assuming he's never even set eyes on one of these boats in real life just doesn't make any sense to me. I've been shopping for a small tug/trawler for months, and have done a ton of research. Your little 25 looks to me like an awesome cruiser, and I'm glad that you guys are able to appreciate it. You didn't answer my question. Have you guys gone inside to Alaska yet?

The Yanmar is rated at 3,600 RPM. Everything that I’ve read says that it is best to run a diesel at 85% of maximum rated RPM which works out to be 3,060 RPM for this engine. According to the fuel curve in the specs, the engine is most fuel efficient at around 2,700 RPM. These days I spend a lot of time running around 2,500 RPM or less. This engine purrs at any speed.

Your 12-foot boat probably has a planing hull; the IS25 has a full-displacement hull. Adding more horsepower would be a waste, since its speed is limited by hull speed, not by power. The theoretical hull speed for a displacement hull with a 25-foot waterline length is 6.7 knots.
