One thing I know about San Diego is that if you don't know the system and have a real clear plan for how you are going to live there, it gets real crazy real fast. I really do pray for the homeless of San Diego and everyone who reaches out to help them.

Good for you! I also live in San Diego, and became VERY close to being homeless this past year, until I finaly began recieving SSDI, as I am too disabled to work.I see the homeless in a whole new light now. I would love to help in any way I can with your project.

i've met david ross...he's a great man. he's one of the nicest people i've run into. i was homeless in san diego for about 3 months. he gave me water once. i've obviously got my shit together now. the problem with being homeless is motivation. these people aren't motivated to get a job because why should they when they can get free money from taxpayers. i got a job fairly quick, then i moved back to texas.

I work downtown and I also see this problem daily. I agree 100% that there is a large group of homeless that need mental help. They have checked out for one reason or the other. We need a safe, clean, well run facility to house them and try to fix what they can not fix themselves.However, the other group I feel sorry for them but they want to be there...they want things handed to them. They do not want to work for their food, clothing and shelter.

this is a wonderful video! San Diego needs giant tents and bunk beds and locate this tent town on the east side of Balboa Park, complete with showers and nice grass . Forget the 200 million dollar library, help the homeless! P.S. San Diego is NOT America's Finest City, please stop saying it is.

If one must be homeless San Diego is a perfect city for it: beautiful weather all year round makes for an easy life. Try being homeless in NYC or Chicago during the winter, yikes. Those folks are warriors.

There is an article in Runners World March 2007 pg.21 "Home Run by Amy Kaplan Lamb" worth noting here a story of training program to help homeless runners turn their lives around. MUST READ. I'd love to do this in San Diego.

I hadn't viewed this video or the comments in over a year and was apalled at some of the negative comments that were posted here, especially by FuzzyCigarDude. It amazes me that in a country that proposes to be founded on Christian values that such horrific philosophies and views can exist. Jesus' message was constantly about helping the poor. The opening segment of this video showing a picture of Jesus and slogan tells it all. Tom Yarborough (contributor of song Jeanny on the video).

I'm not trying to make war with you even if it sounds that way. I had a job in SD where I was able to listen to a lot of radio and everyday I heard that SD is America's Finest City, but there was never any follow up proof or examples besides the weather. Yes, the weather is great and

As an Iraq vet I can tell you that there are several programs in plave to help veterans. If people are too lazy too fill out some papers that's their problem. I live in the neighborhood where this video was filmed and most of the people are disgusting drug addicts. Self ritcheous Christians often hand out food in the neighborhood because they want to go to heaven... I'm starting a program from my home on 17th & J St that involves working in exchange for food or other items... Not just handout

babybluesnowden left me a reply yesterday and I felt compelled to make one more observation. If you've read any other comments I've made you'll know me as being politically motivated, so I apologize for doing it again. People seem to think that when you point out what's wrong with government you expect [it] to solve all your problems, but that's not true with me. When you say that to someone who truly cares about other people it begs the question, "What are we paying taxes for!"
@dmelkumo14 жыл бұрын
@refusetoassimilate what do you suggest we do? Tell them to stop drinking , smoking, and actually work? I know some need mental help, some medical, but who is willing to pay for it? you?

Why doesn't any of what's happening to our country seem to bother anyone?? We're rather all too happy to partake of all the things they give us to pacify us, i.e. American idol, your favorite sitcom, cigarettes, booze, incompetent politicians seeking nothing but "face time" to keep you further removed from the reality of what's happening to our country, etc. I mean seriously - you name it what aren't we shown and/or sold to keep us pacified and distrated??

@candacelove Bs, I live near a lot of these lazy bums, just want to lay on the streets and do drugs, some are out of thier minds. I am a vet, there is plenty of help for vets whether they have mental or pysical problems.

It's ridiculous how we pay taxes to keep the convicts alive in prison, yet none of that money is used to help these people out.
@tickyul14 жыл бұрын
@candacelove Yeah, they have a real racket going, best to attract as many bums to the downtown area as possible, good for the "RESCUE MISSION" business. I have heard that a certain FATHER plays $100 slots and has quiet a few pretty young ladies at his beck and call.

@Tomaldinho9 By the way, When did you ever care how your tax dollars were being spent? See, I remember a time when Americans used to care about each other, however I fear today's children may never know what that feels like. No one's asking you to take money from your own pocket to help anyone; but shouldn't we be using our tax dollars to reinvest in America in stead of fighting fake wars on the other side of the planet?? What is there to gain at his point?
@librarianeric16 жыл бұрын
If you want to raise my taxes to pay for homeless shelters, food and medical care be my guest. But unless you're talking about homeless children or the elderly, PLEASE stop painting the homeless as mere victims of a cruel and uncaring society. The truth is much more complex. I work with the homeless everyday. Many of them deserve every helping hand they get. But many are content to drink (and piss) with their buddies all day on the sidewalk. The homeless are as diverse as any population.

greetings! I salute your right to call San Diego whatever you want, even if it's not true, this video proves it. It's pure hype =crap! Show love, but don't lie about overhypeed San Diego. I bet you can't name 5 reasons WHY SD is America;s Finest, and don't bring up weather! v vThe beaches are no better than other beaches, they are nothing special.

@FuzzyCigarDude I truly feel sorry for you. The venom you spew reveals the void of your soul. Obviously you have no belief in God and this is sad. Do you realize the 25% of the homeless are Vietnam Veterans (look it up). These people fought for their country. May God have mercy on your soul for the hurtful comments you sling at your fellow man.
