Small Block Mopar Tear Down

Watch me tear down a classic small block Mopar in under 5 minutes! The Mopar 360 LA is the older brother of the classic 5.9 Magnum found in newer trucks and SUVs. However, this old Mopar 360 has seen some hard miles and has some issues that need addressing including oil leaks, look timing chain, compromise gaskets, and an extremely restrictive 2BBL intake. In this video we set up the camera and get to work removing the carburetor, intake, all accessories, timing cover, water pump, and finally the timing chain and sprockets themselves.
In the next video we will rebuild this old motor so it's more reliable and able to take on adventures for years to come.
The LA engine is a family of overhead-valve small-block 90° V-configured gasoline engines built by Chrysler Corporation between 1964 and 2003. A replacement of the Chrysler A engine, they were factory-installed in passenger vehicles, trucks and vans, commercial vehicles, marine and industrial applications. Their combustion chambers are wedge-shaped, rather than polyspheric, as in the A engine, or hemispheric in the Chrysler Hemi.
The LA 360 cu in (5.9 L) has a bore and stroke of 4 in × 3.58 in (101.6 mm × 90.9 mm). It was released in 1971 with a two-barrel carburetor. The 360 used the large intake port 340 heads with a smaller intake valve of 1.88 in (48 mm). In 1974, with the introduction of the code E58 4-barrel dual-exhaust version, at 245 hp (183 kW) SAE net, it became the most powerful LA engine with the end of 340 production. Power started dropping from 1975 on as more emission controls were added resulting with the 1980 E58 engine only producing 185 hp (138 kW) SAE net. Starting with 1981, the 360 was exclusively used in Dodge trucks and vans.

My favorite mopar small blocks are the 71 duster and Demon 340's awesome little cars! I haven't seen any videos recently on the mustang do you still have it?
