Taking a look through my boat box that I bring with me on every small boat. I have a few small boats and I use this box rather than have a lot of redundant safety equipment for each boat. This is a box that I use for important paperwork, boat safety equipment and other items I might need when I am going out in my aluminum boats, a jon boat or other tiny boat.
Do you need any of the items shown in this video?
► Here is a link to purchase boating accessories from Amazon: amzn.to/4eunPdf

Grab a wad of wax from a toilet wax ring seal that you use during toilet installations. That stuff is perfect for temporarily sealing stubborn leaks or failed through-hulls.

Ooo - that is a good use for that stuff!

As a fella that spends a boatload of time on the water, you got a pretty comprehensive kit

A first aid kit might be a thing to have, a soft 1-4 person should be enough, just throw some crazy glue(liquid stitches ) because it can bond skin to skin instantly. And can be extra handy fer other things

I'm in the north Atlantic and fish off shore. Pliers, screwdriver and cutting fluid and a stainless steel knife are essential items in the salt water environment. The other item is a med kit built around stopping blood loss (tourniquet, compression pads, packing gauze and steri-strips). A bad cut 30 mins from emergency services is a lethal situation and we are floating around in a bucket full of sharp hooks, tight lines and knives. Being able to control bleeding should be high on every boaters list. I don't think I've ever had a single season where blood was not spilled by someone. Under pressure anchor line, hooks, knives, tight fishing lines all have a taste for blood.

Great video! My friend was out fishing on a tidal creek and a submerged rope wrapped around his propeller. As the tide came up the slack of the rope was about tight. He was in a panic and was almost to the point where he was going to loosen the motor clamps and dump the motor overboard to save his life. Then he remembered that he had a utility knife in his tackle box and cut the rope. All of the items you show are important. I would also add an air horn to the list because the sound is much louder and a manual whistle.

Wayne: put your boat registrations in a plastic zip wallet. Some of the other things I have, to take my small boat out into the English Channel, so up to a mile out two from shore: A small first aid kit - like something for hikers. A small compass. A map of the waters you use. A Leatherman or similar. A pair of pocket binoculars. It is good to check the things we pack every now and then to see if you have what you need and to remind yourself what is there.

I may get laughed at for this one but a cheap dive mask can be very useful. If you need to plug a leak, replace a drain plug, or sort out rope spun around a prop, it will ease your frustration. I also keep a little electrical kit with fuses, crimp connectors, etc. As well as a little 4200 or epoxy putty.

Electrical tape and zip ties - just because they’re small, cheap, and you never know when it will be handy. Spare prop shear pin and required tools to replace. Depends on your motor whether this is viable or not of course. Spare starter rope. My older Evinrude has provision to wrap the flywheel with a backup rope to get it started in the event that the recoil starter breaks. First aid kit. Toilet paper. Wire cutters. I run downriggers with stainless steel cable. In the unlikely event my weight got hung on the bottom I can cut the cable.

I'd suggest including a stainless steel multi-tool, such as a Leatherman or less expensive competitor. This would incorporate both your knife, but also the desired pliers, and even simple screw driver, etc, in a single travel sized package.

I carry enough tools to change spark plugs & remove the propeller in case fishing line gets behind the propeller. Fishing line will quickly ruin a propeller shaft seal .. Carry a short length of weed eater line to unplug the pee tubing on your outboard motor. Zip ties are very handy. Add a tourniquet to your first aid kit & know how to use it. Little boo boos & scratches won’t kill you, but arterial bleeding from a mishandled fillet knife or loss of limb from a prop strike will kill .. I could go on & on.. I carry a lot of stuff 😂

Good stuff! I'd add a small roll of duct tape and a large heavy-duty Ziploc bag to keep your registration documents clean and dry. If you're into fishing, a photocopy of your license is good to have on the boat.

Winter is on the way here in Sweden so no boating for a while. ❄️ But hopefully there will be spring again. Thinking about getting an electric motor to bring me home in case of an engine failure. 🇸🇪 ❄️❄️❄️.

I have the ePropulsion. You can travel several miles, maybe 10 (16 km) on a single charge, if you keep the speed down by using 25-30% of the power. On my 4m boat, that is 3-4 knots. Enough to get to safety, hopefully.

Hi. Just came across your video and wondering were you got the clamp on lights and guessing they are battery operated also? Are you happy with them? Thinking i would like to get them for my boat? Thank you and have a good day
@WayneTheBoatGuy
@WayneTheBoatGuy 2 күн бұрын
I got them from Amazon (link in my video description) and they are just ok. If you regularly boat after dark and need lights, I would go with something more permanent. These are good if you may only need them once in a while because the clamps are just so-so and they don't like to stay put if there's a lot of vibration.

Years ago, I used to carry a handheld two-way radio Now I make sure I have a fully charged cell phone one thing you don't have in your kit, and I think you should pick it up, and it is inexpensive. It is a 14 in 1 multi-pliers. While you are waiting for tow boat US to come pick you up, you can always use those 14 in 1 tool to trim your fingernails we're boaters, not barbarians! and never go out in a boat without bringing fruit. Oranges bananas and Apple.
