Pointing the rod at the fish and abr upt direction changes of the rod can lose fish. Love the small boat video. Have a big fancy boat now with lots of top-of-the-line electronics and going through the learning curve of how to use it all I would have to say we cut more fish with the simple little boats.

Daniel Mazalic Yeah man, love fishing in the small boat, but I definitely handicap myself by having to change directions with the rod due to the camera pole. But that's the chance you take when filming I guess! Glad you enjoy the small boat vids, tight lines bud!

Did you have a cart underneath that boat when he was pulling it through that wooded area? If so, was it a homemade cart or something purchased?
@AnglingAnarchy2 жыл бұрын
Doug Roberts There is a cart underneath the boat. They can be purchased and are used most commonly for portaging canoes.

Vast majority of fish get off when you change hooking direction. You're losing them most often when your tension goes from (example hook set jerking to the right then transitioning to left jerk retrieve). You hooked the fish with tension to the right then rotated to the left and therefore were pulling the hooks from the fish as opposed to continuing to lodge them in. Obviously you can't always go one direction, certainly I'm not perfect when I do it, but, other than a bad hook set, that is why you and I lose fish. Going against the hook set. Good luck and keep up the vids. Edit: How the fish hits the lure matters as well, but always better to keep the direction you set the hooks. Burning eights does a great job of that continuing the fish around the boat as opposed to pulling against the hookset.

J J Thank you so much for watching. I think my biggest issues in the small boat with respect to losing some fish are lack of mobility playing the fish and dealing with the camera pole. Part of the game when you're filming though! I'll get it figured out eventually 😊

@@AnglingAnarchyI’m from sc and got a friend of 35 years. We’ve talked awhile now about a trip up north for huge Muskie and pike but definitely don’t wanna risk pulling a boat 1,000 miles and have to deal with small tires and bearings. We wanna get a small boat that’ll fit inside bed of 2500 Chevy Duramax with maybe a hitch extension for the transom to ride on with a small engine inside bed or boat towards front. What river or body of water would u recommend us going to that’d be the closest to sc? We’d drive further for huge fish. Any idea I’d appreciate u hollering at us.

Tin boat rookie. Tracker 1648 with a 40hp jet is the river deal. Bad thing is two guys can't drag it in to launch :(.
