Thanks for the great info. I have tried flipping domains in the past. I seem to have a nak for finding what I think are great names but I have never been able to sell one or even get a offer. My question is how long should you hold onto a domain name before you just let it go back/laps? Thanks.

Hi Robert. Thank you for uploading these helpful videos for us who are taking our first steps toward being a franchisee. I was wondering if you could make a video about how to approach local restaurants/business who we really like their model and see a bright future with the way they operate, but maybe never thought to franchise! how to pitch and what info should be ask? also, how much franchise fee and ongoing royalty/advertising fees are reasonable for a brand new name to charge?
@FranchiseCityOnline5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Let me see if I understand - you want to contact restaurants to see if they would like to franchise and then help them become a franchise? If so that would be a fairly straight forward campaign. Identify your ideal candidates by geo-targets and industry, create a promo-kit outlining the benefits of franchising, and start hammering away! Royalties vary - but often 6% with 1-2% ad fees. As a new franchise they often dont charge the National ad fee until they start a National ad campaign - so that would be written in the contract that eventually ad fees would be charged. Franchising in USA is highly regulated - a lot of work goes into franchising a company kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqG5k2Suq9JorLs and you will need lawyers, regulatory experts and there is a lot of competition!
@peacemaker59205 жыл бұрын
@@FranchiseCityOnline Robert, your reply was very informative. However, I'm sorry, for not being super clear. I meant how to approach them and ask them to consider me as a franchisee? I see some successful local businesses/restaurants who are not franchises (maybe 1 or 2 locations, company owned) and I want to become their franchisee. How to approach those situations? What data do I need from them and how much franchise fee and ongoing royalty/advertising fees are reasonable?
@FranchiseCityOnline5 жыл бұрын
@@peacemaker5920 Got it - thanks for the clarification. Unless the restaurant is already franchised it is unlikely they will franchise just for one person. It is illegal to just say "I am a franchise" and sell franchises. You need to register in many states individually, prepare an FDD, an operations manual, as well as update these documents with your lawyer every single year. That all costs money. Unless they sell multiple franchises they will likely lose money. Here is an overview of what is involved in franchising a business kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqG5k2Suq9JorLs You might be better proposing some sort of partnership - check with a local business lawyer to see your options. Or go the easy route - select one of the dozens of franchises that are already available!!

no experience doing this but, a simple “dumb” question... when you sell the domain, how is the ownership of the domain transferred?
@orderpk4 жыл бұрын
Best way to transfer a domain if through escrow. Escrow is safe and secure. The buyer puts the money in escrow while you need to initiate the domain transfer process from your registrar. Once the buyer receives your domain in his/her account, Escrow payment will be released to you. There are other ways as well but this is the best way if you dont know the buyer and just selling on internet to someone unknown.

I think the problem is the reselling. Most companies already have a website. Why should they buy mine?
@FranchiseCityOnline5 жыл бұрын
Because you are awesome and you get out there and make things happen. Look at it this way - HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of domains are sold every year, regardless of if companies have websites. Also new companies are started every day. Also unique domains like laptop.repair are desirable for people in the industry, even if they have an existing domain (you can own multiple). Also speculators may buy your domain and hold, or flip. It's not easy, but people still make money flipping - why not you?

Fabebook ok, but what if they do not have FB also? :) Any recommendation for contacting them? Thank you :) 🙏

Thanks! Not sure I understand the question - are you seeking to find owners of existing domains? If so whois can help. If whois doesnt have their direct information (most are private now) it still has the registrar - you can contact them and explain you are trying to connect with the owner and ask if they could send your details. You can also try and google the domain sometimes that brings up data. Hope that was your question - if not let me know.

@FranchiseCityOnline4 жыл бұрын
Its almost impossible to still make money with parked domains unless you luck out. The easiest way to monetize is with Sedo. sedo.com/us/park-domains/ Myself personally I would opt to develop domains into websites/blogs etc. as you have more control over just waiting. Others may disagree.

is this really profitable? I bought 3 domains with the keyword "float" from your advice and it's been 2 days and nobody's buying it. Can you help me?Can you give me some advice
@FranchiseCityOnline3 жыл бұрын
Is it profitable? Like any business most fail, some succeed, a very small minority earn a significant income. None of them did it in 2 days! First I would suggest understanding the amount of work and time it takes to make money in any venture. Much more than 2 days. Make more calls, send more emails, list on more forums and websites and after all that if no one buys the problem is likely the domains themselves (no demand, too long, not appealing etc) There are many pieces to a puzzle in any business, until you have them all in place (which takes time) the money doesnt come. This video was also made pre-covid so no idea how it has impacted those specific industries. Thx for the question.

exact match domains still make a huge difference with the new panda update... That is not true about exact match not making a difference. The Google "Panda" update makes SPAM content with exact match domains non-relevant... however, good quality content websites that have exact match domains ABSOLUTELY get a huge boost in rankings

What if just came up with names and .com? I jumped head first into this without much thought because I'm stagnant alot. I wanted to try some names out to see if any will make moves. I didn't look for any niches I just came up with names off if the top of my head
@FranchiseCityOnline4 жыл бұрын
Im assuming u mean first/last name as most single names are gone. The problem with names is most web savvy people have already registered their own name - so the remaining ones could be people who dont care and are unlikely to pay a premium. Have never done that personally so that's a guess. You could try contacting the people to see if there is interest. I wouldnt buy too many though before testing the water. :-)

@FranchiseCityOnline4 жыл бұрын
There have been precedent court cases where people who registered existing business & trade names lost, and had to hand over the domain. The cost to take people to court is about $1700, so most companies will pay about that to buy the domain as it is easier. Google would have won the case if it had gone to court.

Yes you can list your domain for sale anywhere you like. Yes there are associated fees. Some registration companies give a discount on the first year of registration and your price will increase the following years. Once customers are in the system they typically stay and renew at full price. Like any other industry pricing will vary based on market strategy. Stay away from unknown registrars imo - keep your domains safe.
