These are the types of businesses that should’ve gotten the PPP not large corporations

The thing is the government is so determined to only bail out people who already had pay checks; why not bail everyone out, I mean the economy could certainly use some extra consumers. Why doesn't the government offer guaranteed loans to anyone who wants one, and later, after the pandemic, people could apply to have their loans forgiven based on their income. So if they had no income then the loans would be forgiven, but if they go back to work for 50,000 + dollars a year then they can pay the loan back on their own. That way the government would only pay for those who really needed the money! And this isn't to say that the government shouldn't also do other things like loans to small businesses and help cover payroll for some companies, but this kind of loan would get money to literally everyone who needed it, so long as they had an address.

The government should’ve withheld the extra $600/week + other stimulus money from people already getting welfare and disability and given this money to small business. I don’t agree with not helping big business: if you let the businesses with thousands of employees fail, those thousands of people are out of work - not a dozen (on average) that a typical mom and pop employs.
@tidbit1877
@tidbit1877 4 жыл бұрын
@@ericx4124 Actually over 50% of the workforce is employed in Small and Medium sized companies, so you help far more people when you bail out the small companies. And it would be stupid not to give money to the people on welfare and disability as they need it the most, and they are guaranteed to spend it almost immediately, which is really good for the economy. The last thing we want is grocery stores going out of business because everyone is down at the food bank; we should try to keep as much of the economy going as possible.

As I sat & sincerely listened to all these small business owners, let me translate the first woman's message "We decided to take the profit we made on the backs of so many for so many years and run. We are not going to keep employees on the payroll and sacrifice our stash". That is what she really said! She hardly even looked more than a little bit bothered by her decision. In fact, I didn't feel a whole lot of sympathy in any of the businesses interviewed. My good friend can be truly classified as a small business owner of a Chinese Restaurant in Phoenix and I hear story after story of all the crap he does to keep his profits in his pockets. I hear of all the "cash employees" he hires to keep them off his taxable income, all the deliveries he makes that are hidden from the Govt and all the individuals who sacrifice years for him only to get sacked when the owner feels a change is needed. I really don't hear any GOOD that comes out of many of the small businesses, especially from the "service economy sector". I think we need to get away from an unsustainable "Service economy" and get back to what we once did so well, manufacturing! We need to bring back our jobs from China and we need to focus on what is important in this world! Going to Gotham Bar & Grill is NOT one of them! We need to meet around our Dinner table as a family going forward, not sitting around some table in a Restaurant where the food was served by someone making $10/hr! We need to get back to our roots and do what we did best! I know my comments will bring some not so favorable responses, but the truth hurts.

Running a biz has a million more variables. To say that you were able to have an emergency fund is not a major accomplishment when you are not dealing with a million government requirements, employees, financers, advertising, customer lawsuits, building repairs, commercial mortgages, payroll, etc. And the list of responsibilities are endless, even in the best of times. For all the many negative comments about the entrepreneurs... There is a huge lack of understanding and appreciation for what entrepreneurs contribute. Even during the lockdown, they still had to continue paying the commercial lease (or eventually pay the accumulated principal and interest), the utilities, and some continued to pay employees. Even for those that were open, what happens when 90% of your customers are home unemployed, are choosing not to spend money as usual, or won't have jobs when the lockdown ends? The commercial lenders aren't decreasing the mortgages, and other expenses aren't decreasing. Now you are throwing money into a pit. Tough customized decisions have to be made. Also, consider that there are many billion dollar businesses that are closing, which could have done better with the free money that the government has thrown at them for the past decade. I don't think it's fair to look down at the small business owner who was willing to work hard, create jobs, and grab life by the balls. I celebrate them.

This crisis has tremendous gigantic differences between the affected and the not really affected, where the not really affected are oblivious to the devastation of the affected. People who can work at home online or own businesses that they can manage in the privacy of their office or are in sectors that have not been shut down complain about the inconveniences of wearing facemasks or not being able to get a haircut, but they don't really fathom the situation that others are going thru. PRIME example would be Congress, they still have their jobs and the vast majority of them are older and wealthy enough that they could live extravagantly the rest of their lives if they never worked another day. Stimulus is needed ASAP like yesterday not 2 months from now! So Pausing and analyzing will prove to be disastrous. What good are the whole PPP and loans for small businesses when even with reopening businesses are so affected they have no chance of being profitable. Why should you keep employees on the payroll or take out loans to get you by for a month when it is clear your industry is now unprofitable. Congressman still have their jobs and benefits so they complain about the hassle of reconvening and take weeks at a time off. If bombs went off in NY, Boston, Los Angeles, New Orleans and other cities do you think they would think its appropriate to take days off and pause to analyze the situation?? Well over 90,000 people have died in the last 3 months and billion dollar industries that were employing millions of people are crippled, so yeah bombs have gone off. Restaurants, airlines, travel, tourism, sports and the entertainment industry are huge industries that will be greatly affected for years.

They ruined WalMart and put small American companies out of business that their father had as suppliers. Remember when WalMart was proudly carrying Made In The USA products, I do. I refuse to shop there! WalMart made record profits during this shutdown! They didn't block off merchandise that other stores sold but were forced to close. That's unfair advantage. How many small businesses have Alice and Jim Walton killed, too many to count. And this people knew, that china would get the blame. Or did something, so china gets the blame. I have learned in live... Nothing is, what it seems. Nothing seems, what it is. Where is smoke, there is not necessarily fire, but cut be. Where is fire, there is not necessarily smoke. You know what i mean? It is not smelling like convinient for some powerfull people? And why? The best idea i can give..., is to not trust any country. Any people, who could profit from this all. I see, many things going on. I saw many things going on in 2007 i think. The crash is comming like before. But worse. Wait and see... Do everything to protect you and your entire family. Solve financial problems and sanitase everything. Learn everything about surviving and what you need most. Do not buy houses. Cars, tv,... Things you not really need. And i hope, you have a big garden, to grow your own food, chickens. Hope you know, to survive and eat, without needing suppermarkets, and so on. Buy stuff that helps you out. Do not spend anything on supperficial stuff, bling bling clothes and so on. Medicaments/ vitamins are very important. Books to learn how to survive, grow food, store food, heating without depending on others, water from your own garden pond... Be totally self sufficient, when needed. Anyway, to long to tell you what you have to do. But this is or was the beginning... Not the end. And do not forget, to love the ones you love. Bless you

They may want social distancing to be the world's new normal. Social distancing makes it harder for men and women to meet, fall in love, and have babies. There's a combination of uncertainty that even most businesses fail whether or not there's a pandemic. Its always the risk on my mind when I'm controlling my business...Im sure there's great owners out there managing their money correctly for certain situations of the unknown...but I'm also a business owner and I luckily have an essential business which I didn't have to close my doors...but I still had to endure the lack of volume of work. I always planned from the beginning of my business to always have a cushion of money. I've seen business fail and not just for this situation...but business owners never prepare for the unknown...a lot of times they over spend assuming that there's always going to be money flow...but I guarantee if these people were more prepared of the unknown...they could've survived this. Now I hope business owners are going to adapt and learn from all this to always be aware not to assume everything will be alright and improve efficiency to lower costs.
