The Marathon GPQ Sage Sapphire. You won’t believe how small this watch is, yet strangely seems to feel so right! This is a genuine mil-spec watch that has had to satisfy all the design requirements set (MIL-PRF-46374G, Type I, Class 1). This is my first impressions of the watch I purchased for £179.99 including next day delivery from www.heinnie.com/ (I have not been sponsored for this content.)
First impressions do count for a lot, so lets see what I really think initially, and share with you my findings. I’m sure you will like it!
If you like my content and have not subscribed yet, please do, it really helps me grow the channel!
I really appreciate you watching my content, and if you wish to support the channel, apart from subscribing, check out my eBay shop, as there I have a nice selection of watches and straps I hope you like! Thanks so much.
www.ebay.co.uk... The small print: All watches in all my videos are genuine items and not copies or fakes. Homage watches are legal and I just review them. I am careful to use the word "homage" when presenting that type of watch, because that is what they are. All images and sounds used are either my own or used under the fair use policy. Thank you. Awesome little watch, fills so many voids that many watch enthusiasts don't have covered in their collection. I think everyone needs at least one watch that is going to be set to the correct time in your box and also I think everyone needs a watch that you will forget is on your wrist - Nylon Strap & 35g you will 100% forget it's even on your wrist at least once a day :) Great vid as always

I found one of these in an old desk and was so tempted to take it. For all I know the thing is laying in a landfill. It's bothered me for years that I didn't just steal it, so I had to buy my own lol.

I think that little military/field watch looks really bad ass. Now, as you know from our recent conversation, I have quite tiny wrists. This would fit me better than many others obviously. Still, you have quite bigger wrists than me, and it looks great IMO. Actually, when I think about it, this is one of the few modern watches I personally could wear with a nato in the classic way without it looking too bulky on both sides on my wrist. That's always my gripe with classic nato straps (and why I prefer single straps like provided here). I really like that design. Many field/military watches doesn't do much for me, since I often think they look somewhat bland. But not this one IMO, even though the design is quite tool like. To be honest 30 m wr might feel more like a dress watch than a field watch IMO, and 15.5 mm is an odd size for straps. Love that quick change battery "hatchet", reminding of some vintage digital watches. A great feature more quartz watches should have today. I don't mind quartz generally, I have a few myself. My only hang ups are if the ticking sound is really loud (a few of them do), and that usual seconds hand missing the indicies (which sadly all of mine do, even my vintage Certina). This one doesn't! So wonderful to behold lol! Anyway, rants over! Cool watch which I definitely wouldn't mind, and looking forward for more of your reviews.

Its clever how a small watch, when designed well works so well for many wrist sizes (to a limit of course!) If you have smaller wrists, this would be perfect for you and wont let you down! If you have a bigger budget, the Auto with Tritium could cover a few bases in a collection.

I find it weird how people are like "this is a great MILITARY SPEC watch" and its only 30 meters of water resistance. 30 meters means you cant swim with it. I dont care for 200 or 300 meters of water resistance, however 100 means you can swim with it and i find this to be useful in a "military TOOL watch". It cant be a tool watch if you cant get it mildly wet! It just cant ! Sorry for the rant, i am still interested in this watch and i do like how it looks however I just would hope people would take that fact into account.

There’s absolutely no way on this earth that any military would issue this watch, for £180, when a Casio F91w does the same and more for a fraction of the cost. Marathon are trading on their historic military links, like CWC, but they’re nothing like a military watch these days. Way too expensive for what they are.

Ok not having been in the military but seeing so many 'military watches' out there ... seiko Captain Willard, G-shock, Marathon etc. I wonder whether you are issued a watch or have a choice from a range available at the PX? Mil spec watch with lume? First, I can't believe it will last 8h, even when flashed with a torch. Second, no one wants to charge it with a torch, just have the light when needed. In winter sun is not strong enough about 1700 or even earlier, my divers stop becoming readable as early as 22-2300. Besides, why would a soldier want his/her watch to glow in the dark all the time? Small g-shocks: press a button and light is on for a second, that's enough. When off duty, you can set them to light up whenever you move your hand towards your face, then switch it off when back on duty. I don't get it, is the goal here to wear a watch on the inside of your wrist and be readable while aiming a rifle? If that's the case, tritium seems like a way to go (not bright enough to give up your position but readable all the time).
@watchmewithwatches
@watchmewithwatches 4 жыл бұрын
I totally agree about Tritium. I have never had a Tritium watch before, and if I was willing to stretch past my £200 budget, the Tritium model would have been the one I went for. The Maraglow still for fills the requirements set by the document, but in reality your point about constant illumination (not too bright) when you need it is a fantastic point. You may have just cost me another wedge of cash! lol
