I stopped wearing dresses and skirts over ten years ago. I found myself a single mom, and I had to be safety conscious not just for me but for my daughter as well. It was easier to be prepared to protect us both if needed in pants. Now that she's 21, she doesn't need a mama bear to protect her. For her twenty-first birthday, we went to a winery. I had nothing dressy at all to wear. She let pick out a dress in something dressy. I chose a pretty light pink dress. I have been on a journey to reclaim my Godly femininity every since. It just felt so good to be in a dress for the first time in years.

That sounds so much like my story, too! 59 years old and I just bought the first 3 dresses, in decades!

I always dress nice when I go anywhere. And most of the time I do stand out, but I usually get a compliment. I also like to dress as nice as I can everyday when I am not going anywhere. My husband likes to see me looking pretty, and he often says I am beautiful..But I do have chickens and ducks to look after, so I prefer the darker colors cause the clothes get dirty. Maybe I should get a work apron to protect my clothes! That would look so cute.

I love this video! I do think that some of us need to let go of the idea that wearing a dress is "dressing up". Growing up in the 70s, it seemed common for women and girls to wear dresses every day as part of our normal daily wear. There were dresses for school, casual dresses for home, dresses for Sunday and special occasions. I've worn dresses most of the time for most of my life; the only times I didn't was briefly in high school and in college (trying to "fit in"), and when my son was a baby and a toddler. I quickly discovered that simple cotton dresses were comfortable for running around with a toddler while still looking presentable when you need to leave the house. By the way, pink is my favorite color and I wear it often.

It's been a pleasure observing your journey over the past eight years. I can relate to your preference for solo shopping outings, and I admire the grace and poise you exude, setting a wonderful example for young ladies. Your unique style is truly inspiring, and it's heartwarming to hear that it garners such positive attention. Keep embracing your individuality-it's a beautiful thing. ❤❤

This month is my 1 year anniversary of wearing dresses exclusively! I just recently purged my dresses, and donated them all to get fushia, got pink, and white dresses (note sure how long this will last but it’s my color for the season)

I just loved this video. I asked my husband to listen to the last 4 minutes. We cuddled up and listened. Our relationship is very much like yours & Jorge. It just tickles me. BYW all wardrobes are now decluttered. ♥

This video was (once again) so beautiful and inspiring, thank you, Nikki!😊 I have many times thought my dear husband is so similar to Jorge 😊 I know exactly what you mean with the pile growing at the bottom of the wardrobe.... and the tools in the bedroom😂 By the way, my husband commented that Jorge had really good quality ones 👍 I just had to show him that toolvideo, so that he knows he has a "kindred spirit" on the other side of the world. You are so right about communication in a loving relationship. If a tool lying somewhere in the house is "a price to pay" for a handy husband, then I gladly pay it. But as you mentioned in your earlier video, sometimes you just can't look at that mess anymore... Loving communication is then well-needed😊❤ It became a lot easier with the tools when we moved to a house that is directly attached to his garage/workshop. Not needing to go outside to put stuff away. Thank you for a breathtaking garden-tour and really inspiring closet-tour. It will be so interesting to see all your dresses in May and also the other ladies. Looking forward to that 😊

I just found your channel and it’s beautiful. I grew up in the generation where we always wore dresses we weren’t allowed to wear pants to school. I had a wardrobe of all dresses and so did my mother. you’ve inspired me to wear my dresses more. I have a lot of dresses. I wear dresses a lot in the summer . This year I purchased more sweater dresses that I could wear in the winter. I love them and they’re comfortable with a pair of boots.❤

Last week I noticed how many ladies just wear tennis shoes. Do you have a way of how you shop at Ross? I think some of your viewers may not be as skilled a shopper as you at Ross and may welcome any tips.

Love your videos you are my favorite content creator. I just started wearing dresses and yesterday at Starbucks another woman complemented my dress and expressed her desire to wear dresses. I told her where I got my dress in which was a block a way from where we were and I did let her know that the store has a 40 percent of sale her face lit up she looked so happy that made me happy.

Can’t wait! I just ordered some dresses on sale…definitely inspired by Nikki! Nikki, or any of the ladies here, have we talked about legs before??? As in bare legs verses nylons/tights, etc. For several reasons gone are the days where I will use self tanner, but my legs have veins and I am typically quite pale and they just aren’t as “pretty” as I’d like...the skin I mean. I’m almost 40. What are we all doing for this! Does Nikki have a video about this already?? Thank you 💓
@TheLadyoftheHouse9 ай бұрын
That's exciting! I have shared a video on nylons before but it received some very unwanted attention so it's no longer up. Some still wear them all the time while others never will again. If you can find some that are more natural looking, those would likely help as well as longer hems, then there is no need to worry 🌹

Do you wash all the dresses when you bring them home before you wear them? 😊
@juliecarns9 ай бұрын
Oh good question!
@suzanneturley44339 ай бұрын
I do. It was something that my mother taught me as I approached the age of buying some of my own clothes and at 70; I still do it to this day. Initially, it was simply because you don’t know how many different ladies have tried that dress/jacket/ etc on. Then of course it’s knowing that when you do wear the garment/s they are fresh and not even slightly smelling of someone else’s perfume/odour.
@Petra_T_J9 ай бұрын
I wash all the clothes too before wearing them. They can get dirty from transportation and storage at the store, and of course from other people trying them on. But they usually have a lot of harmful chemical residues from producing them, like dye/color and other chemicals needed in the process of making textiles. I also wash all the other textiles before using them, like linens, towels, blankets, table clothes etc. They can have a lot of chemicals, dust etc on them too. Our skin can absorb the chemicals into our body, especially if you are perspiring a lot. And from blankets, curtains etc the chemicals are evaporating in to the air we are breathing. So it is important to wash them even if they will not necessarily touch your skin. We were thought to do this at school in Finland back in the 90's😊
