Very informative video! These reels have opened up the deeper fisheries for the recreational fishermen. I want to add a precautionary tip. When, not if, you get hung up on bottom structure, don't lock up the reel and try to break off the line. It's very possible to damage the mechanical components of the reel and ruin the rest of your day on the water. Once you have made the decision you can't free your jig, use a knot puller or a small section of PVC pipe or even a cleat on the boat to break the line.

Phenomenal video on explaining all the features on the G300J which I just purchased. I haven’t used it yet but have been reading through the booklet and at first it’s a bit intimidating. This is the most informative video yet on reels that you have produced. I have several multi-day deep drop trips coming up and can’t wait to use it. I can’t believe how much power is in the reel. The G series has a stronger torque and stronger engine. My friend has the G300J and swears by it. I’m going to pair it with my Temple Reef Innovate 7’8 H 250-650g or the Spathe Deep III. I have used much larger electrics but only for bait and the were a bit cumbersome especially if you had to chase a fish down the rail. The one tip that you mentioned was upgrading to a SPJ knob. Thanks again for such an informative video. Jig On

I've been thinking of getting one of these for my 60th bday. Thanks for the in-depth discussion on it. What are your thoughts on the inline rods I've seen y'all using on the long-range trips? I tend to have problems wrapping the tip when slow-pitch jigging.

Love the video and made me subscribed! I'm currently using beastmaster 2000EJ, but the drag and power is not quite enough when hauling in 10kg+ fish. So looking to upgrade to either the Seaborg G300J or G400J. I know you are using G300J as your main, but if you can choose again would you change to G400J or stick with G300J? My local suppliers don't carry them on stock or I can't compare them hands on.

Hey Karna7122, Thank you for subscribing. I would have and now currently own a G400j. The size difference isn't much, but I like having the extra line capacity.

You mentioned a very real problem, which is that we accidentally retain the gear lock reel when we crank it and damage the lock assembly. It already happened to me with the Daiwa Seaborg G400J reel and I'm looking for the repair kit. Do you have the repair kit for sale?.... Thank you.

Just got a 400j and had it spooled at a local shop. Any recommendations on how to input the amount of line without having to un-spool the whole thing? I already know how many yards it on it, but I get an error when I hit okay using the P1 setting.
@JohnnyJigsTV9 ай бұрын
I would go through the spooling settings like in the video, but don't actually put line on the reel and reset the amount of line like in the video.

Do you boys think the G400 could handle a yellowfin? I’m going to try and find out but I’m curious if you think it’s strong enough after using it I have a couple banax 500s that have been working well and I have confidence I can get anything in the boat with that thing, but unfortunately it doesn’t come in left hand like most electric reels that are on the medium size

@@JohnnyJigsTV I would like to use this type of reel for chumming for carp fishing. It involves at least 50 casts in a row. I used to do that with a 12 foot carp rod and a spinning reel. Casts are usually 200 to 250 feet. I can't do it anymore because I have developed shoulder problems from excessive reeling. That's why I'm asking about an electric reel. Can they cast 200 feet and retrieve a spod weighing a few onces (plastic device for chumming corn or other particles)? Thank you
@JohnnyJigsTV8 ай бұрын
@SciD1 honestly for that kind of use I wouldn’t want to steer you wrong. They can cast and retrieve a decent sized fish, they do get stronger with the various sizes and types but I can’t tell you yes or no.

I noticed when you got into the menu of the reel it was all in Japanese. Do you use the JDM version or the American version or do both have English in the menu?
@JohnnyJigsTV8 ай бұрын
Both have English but only one has a warranty in the US, and likely ships faster.
@ergogenic47808 ай бұрын
@@JohnnyJigsTV There seems to be a pretty substantial price difference in US market vs JDM seaborgs. I understand that warranty will not be honored but do you know if US Daiwa would service a JDM Daiwa granted its payed out of pocket?
