You missed the biggest item for most fishermen that travel to fish, the ability to remove the blank from the reel seat to reduce overall length. I took 6 rods to WPB Florida (2 custom jigging rods, 2 offshore spinning rods and 2 trolling rods with Aftco aluminum butts) from the mid-Atlantic using a Buzuka Pro case. The case was 84" long. Insured for $2,000. It cost me almost $400 round trip for air transportation along with my seat fee. Shorten the case length to 66" and the price drops to around $200. If you travel frequently, transportation costs add up fast. I purchased a spinning rod from a person in the Miami Florida area. a 3" diameter PVC tube 86" long, weighing 7 pounds via FedEx was $72.00, UPS was $47.00 and the USPS was $33.00. Having USPS break 3 rods I purchased this year, they're out of the question for shipping rods. One concern with the tubular rods with internal line feed. How do you manage to remove the build up of salt that acts as an abrasive once dried.

Johnny, I've gotta pick on ya about one thing you got wrong in this video. SiC guides are better, harder and preferred over Zirconia. SiC are significantly harder and less prone to chipping than Zirconia guides. NOT "prone to chipping" NOT below Zirconia. So many guys are listening to you and your experience/expertise in SPG. Getting your advise accurate is necessary. Love you guys.

another great vid, I'm fishing for yellowtail down in Baja with an ocea 200, I was wondering which power of your JJ Elite series you would recommend for my first rod? usually fishing 150-300ft with 150-300gram jigs, occasionally a bit deeper and heavier for grouper power 2 or 3? I'm scared! those yellowtail fight like hell lol learned a ton from your channel, thanks!

As you stated, the Spathe rods are a new design of an older concept. I remember when similar bass rods came out. They were around for about 1 year, then gone. Never had one. While the utility is obvious, I would be concerned that the line would wear faster rubbing inside that blank. The line might also slowly cut into the blank. What do you think about that possibility?

Nice vid and very informative. I would say, your pinkie must not be innervated. You said the trigger goes between your pinkie and the ring finger. Yet, both images show the trigger between your ring finger and middle finger. Don't give me the middle finger for pointing it out!😅 Keep up the great work.

Good eye, that was a mistake what I said was correct. Definitely between the ring and pinky finger 🤙

Pretty sure Zenaq makes a solid carbon rods for a reason. And they are at the pinnacle. They test for minimum of 3 years before releasing. Pretty sure they don’t make them because they have a slow action. Pretty sure the opposite. And goo fish is an affordable gimmick for those wanting to be a Kmart fisherman. The only real reason TORZITE is better is protecting these light lines. Can’t believe you’re down playing that. One negative of the TORZITE is size. They don’t make that many in larger sizes. And when it comes to how small these guides are on my Ikari rods I wouldn’t want a carbon fiber guide that small. It’s going to break. Zenaq ikari rods are like tiny trout rods. Still wondering your breaking strength at angles? Could see the AGS Working well with heavier conventional slow pitch and medium to heavy spinning slow pitch. Like my FS64-5.5 IKARI (W) I could see it being better with the AGS and with zirconia guides. But with my 30 plus years of experience with fishing gear. From trout to marlin. The best rod is a balanced rod with its reel in its seat. Balance is very important to feel and holding a rod all day. Not just being light. A heavier setup can feel lighter than a lighter setup unbalanced.

Solid carbon definitely delivers a faster action even though made in a slow jig application. Faster recoil, takes slightly more weight or pressure to load deeper.
