Excellent video. Also, quite fun watching the computer translator try to deal with a heavy brit accent.

I have one of those three point testers you mentioned. It has never let me down. I usually just connect the clamp to a ground point - cylinder or bar bolts on my pro saws.

Great video :-) I just ordered one of these echo spark testers off eBay identical to yours. Still about $65 US lol. I like how versatile the tool is so it's worth it I suppose. Save some guess work and frustration. Great channel :-)

Those visual spark testers ARE useful. I rebuilt my little Minarelli scooter engine and it would start up and run for about 3 minutes and then it would just suddenly die and not restart again that day.. I thought it was jetted too lean and fouling the plug , but I tried like 2 known good carbies and they did the same thing .. I was thinking pulling the plug and blowing everything down with carby clean was fixing the problem, but it turns out I was wildly off-cue. In the end I discovered that there was like a 3mm gap between the flywheel and ignition pickup when it should have 30 thou MAXiMUM lol..So it was running I guess the size of things contracted again when it cooled down and the pickup was JUST working off the flywheel, but whenb it (the crankcase) warmed and expanded - the ignition pickup was suddenly No Bueno with the flywheel magnet. I borrowed my friends one and checked my bike first and then his KTM and the scooter had like tiny little streams, but the other bike was like blue plasma field in comparison.. Scooter ended UP sparking JUST LIKE that, but I wish I bought the damn tester a fortnight earlier, it would have saved me some damn TIME lol..
