You sugested barium swallow in small bowl obstruction, yet in another video you advocated against it in case of occlusion. So which one is it?:D Makes more sense to not make a barium swallow

I'm not sure which video you are referring to. It may be the esophagus one. The recommendations are that you should not do a barium swallow if you suspect a bowel obstruction, but you may do one if you are looking for a suspected esophageal obstruction. As far as the esophagus, the major contraindication for barium is a suspected perforation. Barium swallows have been known to cause ileus.

Barium studies are contra indicated in settings of perforation, strangulations, in recurrent intusussceptions and when there is a pathological lead point because there can be recurrences with the enema.
