Great video. One of my most reliable tactics for hunting spots with washing machine air currents is to hunt morning sits out of big conifers that are located in the open and exposed to the early morning sun. As the sun hits and warms up the branches above and around you, it produces a thermal vacuum that sucks up the cooler air (and all of your stink) from below as the warmer air generated by the sun hitting the darker branches rises into the atmosphere. This trick works wonders on those calm sunny mornings in otherwise difficult wind situations. Just loving this series. Keep’m coming!

I was going through the hardwoods on my property last year and came across a doe bed in an opening where there were some acorn trees. I was shocked that a deer would bed out in the open like that, even it was right near a food source. Based on what you said about how the wind works in those I now understand why.

Wish I could have dan to scout with for a few days here in Northern Alberta..nothing but big woods here. Taking a while to put the pieces of the puzzle together but it's fun.

I haven't watched it yet, I want to watch this evening so I can soak it in. But I already see that you're still teaching and that's what I need. I started both social media and hunting late in life so I'm learning from the woods and KZbin. I'm way down here in the South and I learn the relevant stuff from you way up there! You help alot of hunters and that's part of what makes you theHuntingBeast...beast of the wild are very loving first...and then, well, that's why it's called beast mode... like a Lion, son 😂

Awesome video Dan! This describes a place on public where I saw a 200 inch buck this past January bow hunting. Went back several more times for him and didn’t see him but saw 10 other bucks. A few of which were close to booners.

I wore a BULLSHIRT to catholic school one day in 6th grade. The nuns that taught us were not impressed. I miss that shirt. 1973😂 Thanks Dan!

I have a small plot in the timber. It’s tough to hunt, last time I was in it the wind was swirling all over the place.

So, maybe the calmer the winds the closer I might be able to get. And I need to use milkweed going in(I bought some last year and didn't use it much). Also I could think about hunting escape routes because these woods are highly pressured. Thanks for teaching us how bucks think and act. Alot of people wouldn't share that wisdom. You, my friend, are making me a better hunter. I need to start saving for a lighter more tactical stand though

Good tip on the toilet bowl effect. Makes sense. Good to know and check out in a couple spots before it's go time and I get busted by something big enough to make me cry.

Does you scent spread the farther it travels if it’s just open area? Like buck shot kinda how the pattern gets bigger?

I would think its more about wind swirls and speeds... But, yes, Your scent spreads out more farther away from you.

When bowhuntng whitetails in big woods in northern Wisconsin. What use for black bear protection bear spray or gun. I heard in Alaska they use glock 10 mm handgun. Why anyone need use red flags to navigate in the woods when you have GPS?
