There's a book about this flight that's available online for free: Nine Minutes and Twenty seconds. Much more horrific than this episode. When Steve Chadwick entered the cockpit he declared Matt Warmerdam to be a fatality because of how horrifically burned he was. Four passengers died at the scene including deputy fire fighter Charles Barton who had all of his hair burned off. The lady who wrote a note on the cover lost her foot in the crash and her mother died 4 months later of a heart attack. The last passenger out of the plane was Jim Kennedy, as he ran through the fire his lungs caught on fire. Robin Fech told Chuck Pfisterer to strip off almost all of his clothes to extinguish the fire on him but Kennedy died of asphyxiation due to his lungs burning.😢😢

49:30 this first officer getting an award and accepting it should give greater knowledge and accountability to the pilot who brought the plane down and was killed in the crash. He also the first officer should be thanking the passenger that came up to help him the same passenger that he said, are you going to leave me here to die , this passenger had kids, but he came up to help save the officer. I didn’t hear the first Officer say anything about the pilot or about the passenger that helped him escape

They didn't play the entire interview on the show. They did say he accepted it on behalf of the flight crew and passengers

Some solace knowing the piolit was unconscious and didn't experience being burned.

38:33 That’d be ASA Flight 2311 (left propeller went into reverse due to mechanical failure.) It would eventually get it's own episode and be the reason commuter planes like the EMB-120 would get black boxes (at the time of that crash there were no black boxes to work with…)

The thumbnail is impossible. Planes can't fly with only one wing. Clickbait
@Grey-WraithАй бұрын
Some can, an F-15 for example became legendary for landing with one wing.

24:32 instead of getting off the plane, people sat there in silence. This took away their chances to get off without being burned. I understand surprise and shock, but if they had not just sat there and done nothing as they would’ve gotten up immediately and went out the plane just like the first guy did they would’ve escaped and had no injuries , those that died of infection would still be alive. Infection from their burns would still be alive. That’s bad.

Bro said are we going to make the girl said we are going to make it bro said we’re not gonna make
Once again, lack of communication, what's wrong with these people in the flight industry? What a lack of professionalism, These stewardess can't just assume pilots know everything that's going on, common effin sense!! It is their duty to communicate EVERYTHING that is going on, on their end, whether pilots know it or not, jeeees!! Ignorance at its best, yet these pilots failed to communicate any issue they had to the air controllers, ignorance is daring I swear

comercial airplanes, crash, why?* God, did not give us wings, we were not suppose to be so creative, man made, failures.
@ChaosMagnet4 ай бұрын
Because there are just too many potential ways that things can go wrong to prevent every possible eventuality. The makers of the planes really do try (in general) to make their planes safer, but there are just too many ways that these machines can be damaged, age-related fatigued, enter into adverse weather conditions, suffer any number of mechanical failures, etc. we think aircraft are made to be tough workhorses, but in reality, they’re extremely fragile, especially compared to the hardness and resiliently of the ground.
