I think they should use your suggestion for the curtain. I love the fan. I love the decor. I love the air conditioner. I love the lighting. I love the swivel trays. I love the table. They may end up stealing my purchase from GoPro when i retire. I love the cubes. I love the space behind the entertainment improvement. I wouldn’t want the oven but would rather have the convection instead. They would become my footstool. Lol I love the bathroom. I don’t mind the curtain in the bathroom. I didn’t see you mention the fridge. I will watch again. I love the bracket on the steps. I love the tube. I love that the bottom is enclosed. Gotta love that solar. My feet are small. How often are you really on the roof? It even looks fantastic. Excellent video.

Really nice job on that by Jayco, camping requires adjustments and sacrifices if you want to camp places that let you explore and enjoy the great outdoors. The bed and shower are doable adjustments for me in order to get a little farther out in the wilderness. It seems RVs suffer from the same thing pickups do, once utilitarian they have become luxury money makers for the companies. I prefer something a little simpler and with less things to fail.

The storage cube ottoman things are a great idea, and extend the functionality of the "dinofa" approach wonderfully. As for ovens, it makes sense that you might normally stock them without, but I do think it should be an available option, especially given the off-grid targeting of the large fresh water tank. We could just barely see it at the edge of your shot there, but it appears the solar charge controller was moved in just a smidge since last year so it's now accessible with the slide closed, which I recall griping about on last year's video, so cool!

Cool! Love the 2022 stylings! We love our 166fbs and can’t recommend it enough. Some people have asked if there are things we don’t like about it. Only a couple minor issues: -the position of roof gutters drips right onto the nerf bars when it rains. It can get really loud and makes it hard to sleep sometimes. -the sewer hose holder in the back is practically the lowest point on the camper and we’ve scraped it a couple times backing into boondocking spots. We’ve since just removed it and keep the hose in the bed of the truck. Amazing camper otherwise! We’ve gone all over western Canada with this. We love ours, but a few things I would change. The fresh water fill in on the passenger side for some reason, should be on the driver side rear. Otherwise I think it's the perfect trailer for us.

Tandem axle would be nice for the CCC. I don't care about having a walk around bed. In fact, as a single, the bed that's there is just fine. And I like the cube ottomans. I'd ditch the couch though and put in a tall counter top with storage shelves underneath and add a couple of comfy bar-stools. It'd work great for eating or as a work table/desk. They should put in a flexible shower curtain rod to get the curtain away from your body and then add a magnetic strip around the inside of the bottom of the shower and put in a shower curtain with magnets in the bottom to prevent water from getting out and help keep the shower curtain from coming into the shower and sticking to you. Love the way they did the solar and the brush bars and the steps. I'd buy one of these if the price was right. (And then make those modifications...lol)

Josh, great work. Hand down, you have the best reviews period. Love the jokes... Is good that you can have fun and still cover so much material. I LOVE this trailer. I've been dreaming of van life which would include going on snow safari. How do you think this would hold up in super cold conditions? How well would this hold up to daily use if it were my full time home? What is it's life span? Any modifications you would suggest for full time living? Might do a lot of boondocking too. Suggestions there? Keep up the FANTASTIC content!!! Thank you. Will

Belly isn’t enclosed which is a challenge for cold camping. Sounds like you have some specific intentions in mind. Would really like to have a member of our team get the chance to chat with you a bit more before winging ideas out blindly One thought I had was either a smaller cougar, imagine, or maybe one of the newer embers?

Thanks a million for your help and answering questions. I'm about to pull the trigger and buy this one. Your reviews of this rig made my decision EASY. One last question: can I tow this unit with an 06 Nissan Frontier SE? It has 4wd and rear locking differential. Its a 3.7L V6 motor and has the Nismo package. I was going to get a WDH and anti sway for mountain roads. Necessary? Please say yes to bring able to tow it.... Lol! (I guess that's not just one question). If Haylett were closer to Denver, I'd come buy from you in a heart beat!!!

@@williamtrimble7693 So i am not fantastic with nissan towing stuff -- and a vehicle that old immediately gives me a bit of pause. I think I'd recommend speaking to a member of our staff about the vehicle so they can get a better idea. You'll likely okay but I'd personally want to know more about the condition of the vehicle (undercarriage, corrosion, etc) before sending you on your merry way

Thank you for the Jayco link. I really like the Jayco but I prefer a double axle. I also like the Winnebago Micro Minnie. I don't like the bathroom in the Winnebago.

Interesting floorpan. This looks like a trailer that has lots of off-road camping in mind. I would be one that would like the propane oven installed. The microwave would not do much if you are not connected to shore power or a generator. Unfortunately the propane oven would cost you a bunch of the kitchen storage. I guess it depends on what/how you cook.
@richardkoch87523 жыл бұрын
I'm one also that would prefer a oven also. Home made bread and rolls don't work in a microwave. They should have a option of a oven always.

Have loved this model since it came out, and I think you're exactly right that it falls squarely between a GeoPro/E-Pro and the Rockwood 2109. And, yes, a twin axle Jay Feather Micro model with a walk-around bed would be awesome...but also pretty much just copy of the 2109. Even better would be a twin axle Jay Feather Micro 199MBS with a walk around bed and with an access door in the rear behind the double bunks in that model...now THAT would be awesome. As for this model, I like the couch color, but not a fan of the "farmhouse" white cabinets. Don't know why they don't just make the curtain store alongside the TV cabinet instead of over by the slide...that would just make more sense. I love the storage cubes that double as footstools, which was a really innovative change from the original under bed drawers in the first iteration of this camper. I do wish it had an oven option as well as an enclosed shower, and the narrow bed is a REAL problem for this model, but I think the biggest shortcoming of the JFM line altogether is the lack of the ShowerMiser. Finally, c'mon Jayco...include a quality made table and not a folding table that looks like it came out of an industrial building's breakroom!!!

I think you’re spot on here. You have a really good grasp of this market space

Josh you definitely have the best, most entertaining reviews on KZbin,keep it up! You do know that ladder is moveable to the side of the rv, so if you have the optional roof racks for a kayak or something you can access it easier.

Should be I think

Brilliant floorplan! No oven needed if the microwave is up to snuff. Now trade that outdoor refrigerator for a capable little generator and you'd have a real backwoods monster on your hands.

I would like to see a bigger sink as in the Geo Pro.

Five person table. One sits on the bed. Passes the grocery loading test. You can solar panel on front and have it liftable for the sun. Can you put three batteries on the front. In Josh kind of wording : put a shelf over the first two batteries :

I would LOVE this for camping in the back country, but we've rented a couple different campers to find what we want and my wife would HATE, and I do mean HATE the East/West bed.

Man it couldn’t get better except imagine a side folding table to the bathroom sink like some Rv’s have in the kitchen. A place to sit your things while brushing your teeth then let it down.

Is there storage under the sofa for possibly something like a rolled up foam pad / extra bedding for a bit more comfort when there’s a kid on the jack knife sofa

Hey Josh. Is this trailer as high off the ground as the Baja one? Do you know? This one seems to fit the weight capacity of an Ascent perfectly. Can I strap bicycles to the ladder?. How wide and long the couch in bed setting? Can 2 adults sleep there? Thanks
@JoshtheRVNerd2 жыл бұрын
I believe it is. But using pretty much the same running beer so I would imagine they have about the same ground clearance I personally do not recommend strapping anything for the ladders. They’re not really made for that kind of stress. You may consider something like a tongue mount bike rack instead Sofa is 42 x 70

Josh, I really like the Jayco 166FBS is there anyway Jayco can make the interior especially the shower area higher and give it 4 or 5 more inches for tall people. I really don't feel comfortable with my head in the skylight.
@JoshtheRVNerd3 жыл бұрын
Yeah there aren’t a lot of small RV builders that have extra tall ceilings

Someone else mentioned something I never considered - the curtain setup here gives you more elbow room which makes a lot of sense really But there's pluses and minuses

Some little feedback for Jayco would be adding another pop up charging station on the other side of the headboard, also thin the trim above the door so adjacent cabinet door can open all the way. Lastly, I agree that a queen size bed would be a huge plus.

I would opt up for 2 items on this. 1 the glass shower enclosure. The added weight wouldn't make much of a difference to 1/2 ton capable vehicles. 2 30# propane tanks. 20# tanks last a while but 2 30# tanks last longer. So many more things could be added to make this one hell of a bug out trailer.

30 lb bottles are a $75 option.
