Now this is realistic fishing. I talk to myself just like this when I fish. Man this refreshing. Snags, misses, catches, and makeing wrong moves makes fishing mystical and more appealing to watch than just straight catch videos.

One of my favorite creeks is loaded with 8-12 inch brookies, 10-20 inch browns, and the odd whitefish. Its not always about lunker hunting, these kinds of creeks are intimate water and are always great hiking territory.

You have pattern names for any of them? I love experimenting with wet flies
@blacksaltscotland4 жыл бұрын
@@nickwestin8444 yeah, some natural winged patterns would be: Greenwel's glory, march brown, black gnat, invicta, coachman, and many more. Some un natural and my personal favourite winged wets are: the butcher, the Alexandra, the teal blue and silver, small stoats tails, and many more. And that's just winged wets, we also have spiders. Should be a few to get you started though. Ine last things, we fish them on a swing, not a drift.

My friend can catch them no problem with spinners and trout magnets have any suggestions to catch these picky eaters
@georgefleszar71544 жыл бұрын
You'll have to do another video explaining how to perform all those Long Distance Releases! Not to get to geeky but I'd guess the beaver ponds increased the water temps which did in the brookies. Brown trout can tolerate temperatures near 80°F for short periods of time. Brook trout tolerate brief temps up to 72°F but die if it hits 75°.....

At least where I live, when you find browns they will usually outcompete the brookies. So you are unlikely to catch brookies from now on u less fishing higher in the headwaters where hopefully it’s colder and no browns have arrived. My 2 cents

@stonefly694 жыл бұрын
Fun vid. Two rules for catch and release survivability: don't handle the fish and keep the fish in the water. Use a submersible camera and a device like the Ketchum Release and it is easy to do. That little wash-up, after you handle the fish and let it go? That is their precious slime that you are washing off your hands. You have a great opportunity to teach people about this, as you film. Tight lines!

First, Sorry for commenting so much Ben but as you know I'm laid up broke down at the moment. I also see where people are commenting "not huge" because it's not Mondsy morning, well I'm commenting at 5:47 am Sunday morning a year or so after this was posted so what at least I found it Why all the remarks about 7am beers? Is this not socially acceptable in some places? How can you drink beer all day if you don't start early? The downsizing of flies comment, I haven't creek fished in a long while but for me I'm tired from the hike, a don't have the yeti 45 at my feet with provisions, you have to sit down on the bank and find your shit..etc etc etc so I wouldn't bother either. If I was in the boat with everything at the ready fly would be changed and in the water in less than 2min If it meant more or better fish. A good drift in the spot in our creeks here they eat. I'm sure not as many but...pffft
