Thanks for your reply! Lovely to hear that you enjoyed being in the city again :-) Haha, yeah that question is such a tough one... I think, for me, when playing an online, cooperative game with others you can still pursue your own 'minigoals' for yourself (even if your team is doing something else) which might make it feel more competitive. And often you trust others just 'to do their own thing' because you have to focus on your own part. And you are still working towards the common objective then... It's a difficult one haha! Have a great week as well ladies and looking forward to your next video as always :-)

Happy Happy Anniversary! I am glad you got to spend it out at a favorite place! I love the “most efficient date ever”! I can’t wait for DTW22, I think we will have a mini ThinkerThemer Con there! So excited you girls will be able to make it and that we have a small group of #JoeyFam going. I loved watching your live stream with AWSHUX playing Cartographers. Ruel and Mandy (and Matt) are awesome! I was so excited to catch it live! I have never actually played Cartographers so it was great to watch! I did go all in on the recent KS and am just waiting for it to arrive. I am a bit of a completionist myself so picked up all the extra goodies. This has me really excited to play now! I do love the classics. Jaipur is such a classic game that is easy enough to teach non-gamers. I have played quite a few games of Jaipur with my sister. I love 7 Wonders Duel! It is one that Laura will play with me. I bought the expansions but have not played with them yet. What are your thoughts on those if you have played? It sounds like you prefer Duel over 7 Wonders. Would that be accurate? Believe it or not, I just recently learned 7 Wonders. I played with Nacho and Richard a few months ago. That was my first time! It didn’t drive me to run and buy (but it is a classic 😁 ). I am going to break out Duel when I get home and play! Just love your videos and always look forward to Mondays! Heya TT! Happy Anniversary! We fell pretty hard into the board game hobby as well, we discovered the greater world of board gaming just before the pandemic hit and went a little crazy once we were in lock down lmao! So much fun though and it was definitely the silver lining for us. So interesting you two were video gamers before hand, I think that’s why we enjoyed getting into board games so much. We have a huge collection of consoles and games. Possible IAQ for you; What are some your favorite video games and favorite console?
@ThinkerThemer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!!! Ahh yes the board game hobby is a slippery slope and the pandemic certainly added fuel to that money fire. Lol. Thanks for the IAQ! We have spoken about video games a little bit in a previous episode so if it's OK I might just answer it here for you!! We both own and love the oculus quest - mostly for rhythm games and escape room style puzzles! Oh and cook out. We no longer have a console other than the switch which Maggie uses most to play games like stardew valley, animal crossing and zelda. Recently we also got a gaming PC which is so powerful but Maggie still plays 8bit stardew valley on it so its power is mostly reserved for the video editing 😂 what are some of your favourites?

@@ThinkerThemer We have just about every console and use pc as well. We both tend to lean toward RPG style games; Skyrim, Fallout, Zelda, etc… I’ve been playing through the Mass Effect Trilogy again. Another lovely video, and so pleased my postcard got there! I’ve been enjoying Cartographers since AwShux (purchased straight after) and slowly improving my score. Question (or maybe an idea for a video) - which of your kickstarters were hits and fulfilled expectations and which were off the mark. I got my copy of The Road a couple weeks ago as well and have really enjoyed the several games I've played. I've only tried 'easy' mode so far, to learn the game, and won without too much trouble. Next time I break it out I'll try the recommended difficulty! Speaking of solo games, I do hope you get a chance to try SOS Titanic. The new edition is unfortunately being published by a company being run by a poor excuse for a human, but if you can get a hold of the old version, or even a print and play, it's worth your time. It was the game that really opened my eyes to what a wonderfully integrated theme can bring to a game. I know Rahdo turned you off it a bit with the heaviness of it, but he made a small error in his description: he said you save the children last. But that's not the case. The theme of this game is right on point, and of course the children, then the women are saved first. It's amazing what a well done theme can do for boring old Solitaire!

I think the Gipf series has resin pieces, not plastic, hence the satisfying clink and heft of them. I know the pieces used shouldn't make a difference, but it really does, they are much better than plastic IMO. As for Cons, they are not very green, I think twice about going to our local one (UK games expo), any hope of someday going to Essen has evaporated for me.
@ThinkerThemer3 жыл бұрын
Oooooooo that makes so much more sense about them being resin. Thanks for that clarification. Sorry I didn't quite understand your second comment- What did u mean about the cons not being green? Thanks for watching and taking the time to write!
@tmcd50493 жыл бұрын
@@ThinkerThemer I mean travelling to Essen, or the US Cons is not a carbon neutral activity -sure the plane would probably set off for there whether I went or not, but if many thousands of us realised that the ecology of the future is more important than talking about and experiencing games in another land, then we might stand a snowballs chance of averting climatic suicide. Phew, lecture over, I hate that we are having to face these choices, but if we are to be responsible, we must. Gipf series: I'm pretty sure those pieces are resin, but not 100%, they could be something else?

Hi, congrats on your 10 years anniversary. I completely feel you with Melbourne finally opening up and to have been able to play again at the pub on Wednesday. Pretty much the whole group came. And also finally having friends over again. I finally could empty the freezer roosting a bunch of pork knuckles for them. On a future TT-con -- I understand your desire to travel again. But other continents already have cons, and I am glad for you to be able to go to DT-West and others. But Australia finally needs one too, and in the nearer future why not start closer at home and then a bit later jump into the virtual one? 7 Wonders Duel - great game. On video-games: Halo -- coop -- Space -- war??? And Maggie mentioned GTA an Assassins Creed to me. I am surprised by this, because your board game choices are generally different.

We've been to board game bbq day and often go to Stella and Tarrants game evenings in the city. We were also meant to be at the board game retreat on Phillip Island prior to its reschedule to 2022. 7 Wonders Duel is my favorite game! Dice Miner has the same overlapping pyramid drafting mechanic, but with dice. It was really cool, and easy to play with all levels of gamers. I made a how to play video for it on my channel.

Such a fabulous game! Oh thanks for putting dice miner back on the radar... will have to check that out again. Thanks for watching! 🥰

Cartographers is def on my list to buy as I love polyomino games. Dvonn and the entire series are games that i find very very appealing, yet ive never actually looked into researching prices/places to buy from. What others do own others in the series, and would you recommend any of them in particular.

Cartographers is a wonderful game. I actually got it thanks to one of your recommendations from a comment in a past video. So thank you for that! I'm hoping that there's a way to get the additional maps without having to buy a brand new version, but it really is a good cozy experience. 7 Wonders Duel I recently tried, and while the first game I had some nitpicks, the second play felt better. We luckily own it, so I can give it another shot, and I really want to like this game since I do think the mechanics of the card drafting is quite smart. For a simple question, are y'all both naturally more dog people or do you also love cats or other pets? I love both, but I'm naturally inclined towards dogs. My current pupper has been with me 11 years. Happy anniversary to both of you tho and thank you for another lovely video!

I am getting ready for Thinker-Themer Con 2040. I am making a Mad-Max style jacket made of old tires and spikes. Should I go with a Purple Mo-hawk or Blue Mo-Hawk?

To bad covid keeps being around and because I am immunocompromised I haven't been able to go anywhere, or else we would definitely would travel the world. I also cant wait to go to any board game con... and would love to say hi.

It is such a wonderful game isn't it? :) We were sorry to read about your being immunocompromised. It makes total sense that you would want to keep yourself safe and away from big gatherings. I hope you are able to still enjoy your hobbies and passions on a smaller scale. Health is always the number one priority. Stay well and thanks for watching as always

I'd love for you two to sometime play video game or two on the channel, live maybe. Like, Overcooked could be very fun to watch you. Or something in VR, like Beatsaber or Moss,... I love VR!

The Road is really difficult, I've played about 15 games of it and I haven't won yet! A few times I had a great run, was doing really well only to be undone by a particularly nasty combo of fatality cards on the last day with no opportunity to recover from them.

Oo that does make us feel much better about our attempts 😅 glad you are enjoying it though! Thanks for watching

Wellington! I loved that city 😃 stayed there for two weeks during travels in 2009. Why'd you leave it was thé place I'd probably move to ... should I move to New Zealand.

Haha we moved when I was young! I think it would be hard to live there now because of our work (smaller markets there). It is a wonderful and relaxed city though. Albeit super windy lol. Thanks for watching!

Gotta ask which Laksa place in Singapore you're referring to. Katong Laksa?
@ThinkerThemer3 жыл бұрын
It MAY have been Janggut laksa but I was just trying to match Google images with what I remember since it was so long ago now!!! It was in the middle of a shopping centre but a really small stall bench style service with just a lovely group of elderly woman working there. Incredible food! Thanks for watching - are you based there?

Does anybody have a link to the Awshux appearance? I can't find it, and it's two of my favorite channels. Also I like Cartographers and own a copy, so I could even play along!?

Here's a question for next Small Talk: I know that some KZbinrs script thier videos. Yours seem so natural and chatty, it seems unscripted. At the risk of finding out how the magic is performed, I ask "how much preparation or scripting do you do for each type of video?"

Great question Anne thank you noting it down!

Fun Fact: One of the camel cards in Jaipur is not like the other. Can you find the difference? :)

Sure can!!! I think they removed this for the new version though...?

@@ThinkerThemer hmmm. I’m glad I have the classic version then! Love that Easter egg. Supposedly the panda is in the app but I’m not sure where.
