You're reaction is lovely Adnan. The song is very sad and she sings it that way. She even shows a bit of anger like when the doctor tries to give her advice. I was a little surprised when you said it made you feel happy--then I realized just the beauty of the performance was gjving you joy. All the things a song should make you feel Thank you.

She is a very talented artist who was black listed here in America back in 1992. She was doing a live performance on Saturday Night Live when she produced a photo of the pope and ripped it up while on camera. She was protesting the Catholic church blind eye to the sexual abuse of children by priests. She was bringing to light a sickening circumstance that is still happening. When interviewed, she said she is a protest singer, not just an artist. Most people under 30 years old at that time supported her, but the powers that be and the few corporations that run the media did not.

Still going on? Where, the only pedophiles that are being prosecuted lately are Protestant Ministers and teachers. Look about the fact before talking about things you have no clue about

You'rte absolutely right with the colors. Changing the colors to look more blue makes an ordinary scene look sad, just like the lyrics describe

Some bold attempt - a *voice* - of a bit of power, triumph & closure to bury the sadness… still vulnerable, though; & the sadness will always remain. She knows it.

RIP precious Angel . I love her version of this song it is more heartfelt especially because she was pouring out her feeling toward her abusive mom after she passed away in a car accident when Sinéad was a young. What sucks is that her dad turned out to also abuse her . This is why she was a strong voice and went after Child Abusers😢🦋❤

Prince wrote this song in 1984. Sinead O’Connor did this cover version in 1990. It went to no.1 in the UK charts and no.1 in 17 other countries. She tweaked the script slightly to make it a female version. The part she had tears in (All the flowers that you planted, Mama, in the backyard….) was when she was thinking about her mum in that moment, who died in a car crash in 1985. Three weeks before that accident, Sinead wanted to forgive her Mum for all the abuse she gave her. She had a very difficult life with her mum, and wanted to forgive her, but it was too late. All the other lyrics in this song (written by Prince) wasn’t about her life. She chose this song because she loved it herself.

If people know her background and childhood, then they would understand her songs. She was abused by her mother and other men as a child and most songs are protest songs. This song is for her mother and the longing she has for her mother despite her mother's abuse. It is so clear to see her pain in her her eyes. She has had a hard life. She lost her son to suicide 8 months ago as well. Rest in peace angel 😢♥️

Maybe language barrier is at play here...THIS IS CLEARLY VERY SAD. The story is of heartbreak and sadness at the loss of what she thought was everything (in a relationship that failed) and NOTHING WILL EVER COMPARE to it. The gold colors, I believe, show how sometimes things LOOK beautiful and shining like gold but end up in pain like black. Thank you for all that you do to bring cultural respect at the forefront.

RIP Sinead O'Connor. thanks very much for doing these music reactional videos. Layne Staley makes me very sad to think about and I was verry sad when he passed (I am also very sad about sinaed's passing just recently) Layne from Alice in Chains was a hero singer to me and your video discussions on the song Nutshell with your tribal friends brought out a light and wisdom of introspect about human emotional conditions and how we all face feeling alone and how serious his pain was and this was very healing and full of wisdom to watch. also, here is a link to prince performing ' nothing compares ' live, the music also feels happy kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3_Eo3d7es2Cqa8 there are also a few youtube streams of the origional version he recorded if you have not heard it yet (also very similar to this live verion link, in the live version he somewhat combines the two)

maybe it is her tremendous talent that is making you smile. But her pain is real. She is only twenty years old in this video, but she had experienced sexual abuse as a child, and the death of her mother two years when she was just eighteen.

Now Adnan, you are conflicted after watching this video and so you should be as this music video is about internal conflict which the artist feels after loosing her mother who was also her abuser. How do you resolve such conflict in your mind and make sense out of it all?? That's the conondrum which Sinead faced throughout her life. Was I a bad child??, Was I at fault?? Her mother left Sinead with more questions than answers.
