just an update follow for the pruning and shaping of night blooming jasmine.

I really enjoy your videos and I think i need your help. I have a new small indoor jasmine plant as well and I have it beside a window with blinds, I also water it every other day and the soil is well drained, but the tips of the leaves are starting to turn brown and dry, and the new leaves are curling down so I don't know what to do to not have the leaves starting to turn brown or curling down. I'd love your opinion, thank you.

I think you might have overwatered. Indoor plants usually not watered that frequently. I always recommend when watering check the soil first. I recommend cut back the watering and see. If that still does not help then check root see if they are rooted. If root rot then cut the rotted part off and repot.

I start with osmocote pink 15-9-12 slow release, when closing to bloom season I added little JR peters bloom booster 10-30-20.

got few of those plants around my house, now I'm looking forward to grow Ylang-Ylang tree at the side of my house, they smell good as well, more stronger than night jasmine, you should check them out. hopefully it will grow and adapt the weather around my area

I love ylang ylang, believe it or not I actually had one couple years back then I left it too long out side got cold and killed it. But yes the fragrant is very pleasant. Hehe might get one next summer.

Can you guide us about sunlight and care in winter? I put it out in balcony which is north east.i sw many leaves of my plant turning little yellow? What should I do? I live in Virginia USA and temperature here is really hot these days

For winter: facing south be the nicer spot, but as long as it get sunlight any location will be fine. Cestrum Nocturnum does drop leaves when bring indoor, it first turns yellow then light yellow then drop. Leaves dropping in winter is normal. As for hot days in the summer, this plant can go full sun even in the 100, just make sure give it enough water. It loves water so much that I dont think anyone can over water this plant and dont be afraid to put it in full sun. Mine is sitting at my back patio with sun from 8am till 8pm and you can see in video. If your plant is not big and worry then try partial sun spot which gives this plant around 3-4 hours of sunlight then later in the afternoon in shade. Good luck.

I just got the night blooming jasmine today in a 1 gallon pot and the plant is growing with stems straight all the way up to about 5 feet tall. I'm going to trim the whole plant down to about 2 feet tall like your plant. Would the plant survive if I cut too much down at one time? What would you suggest?

Yes plant will survive. This plant can stand pruning very well. Just keep in mind that depends on where you live, in colder zone like mine 6b, the plant tends to drop leaves in october. But if you live in hotter zone then it should go straight back to growing after pruned. Great plant, grows fast, wonderful fragrant, and beautiful star shaped flowers.

What zone you live in? If possible go full sun and after bloom period give it some bloom booster fertilizer.

Hi! Absolutely loved the video and am amazed at how fast it's grown in around 3 weeks! I just wanted to ask, my night jasmine was overwatered during Winter, almost all foliage has fallen off, new growth is still coming through so plant isn't dead (yet, I hope) but new growth looks deformed (going into spring here) what are your thoughts? Ty, if the night blooming jasmine not dead then give it some time to recover. The deformed leaves(I have not see the leaves but just assume) is better than no leaves. Having leaves out means the plant is expanding the energy it saved so give it more sun and prune off the dead branches and I think it will be fine.

After repot give it a week or so and it should recover. Pruning after it recovers and actively growing. Do not prune after repot cause it be more stressed.

Yes, root can be pruned. Just do not over prune them and leave the big roots alone if you can. Big root will create feeder/small roots.

Thank you, I keep it outside from May to September in my zone 6b. I take it back in during winter else it will die to the cold. This plant can be leave outside or plant in ground above zone 9. I think UK is zone 6-7 at most.

Night blooming jasmine propagation is easy just cut off a branch and stick it into the potting mix. Keep the new cuttings in a shade for aweek then take then to partial shade.

Can you please share potting mix for this? I am just using miracle grow potting mix and don't see any bloom..I read that it need acidic pH.should I give it fertilizer for acid loving plants? How often should we give fertilizer to our plant?

Believe or not this plant can survive on most potting mixes, but acidic mix is the most suitable for it. Your miracle growth potting mix should suffice and I am sure most miracle mix is acidic(most plants are acid lovers). This plant will bloom for sure since it is not picky like some plants that you have to get the sunlight requirement right, water amount right, fertilize right, etc. Now as for my mix(been awhile I will try see if I can recall): miracle mix, perlite, vermiculite, osmocote slow release pink bag(I apply that every beginning of season around april), and top it off with new Zealand premium sphagnum moss to keep the moisture in. Plants like this loves fertlizer but use it sparingly else you could stunt its growth. Try use 1/6 of the actually dosage. I use slow release every 2 months till autumn then I stop and start again when growing season starts.

Winter in the basement with windows if applicable. Else in the living room away from duct area(so heated air wont cause further dryness). Basement in winter is better than living room or any other areas in the house due to the basement not being heated as much. Dont put next to the entrance since opening and closing in cold days will damage it. Side note: winter time try to tidy up abit and cutting(not pruning) off any brown or dead sticks, mist plant if you crank up the heat alot due to very cold weather.

The age of my night blooming jasmine is 5 years. Without look at your jasmine hard to till how to prune it. But the main thing to keep in mind is this plant is very strong and do not worry about pruning.

Really? Out of all my plants this night blooming jasmine and fig are the easiest. Make a cutting and stick it into any potting mix and give it two weeks. Keep trying, this jasmine grows fast and will not mind few branches being cut. Good luck!🍀
