I memorize pi for the same reason that I initially memorized a bunch of powers of 2, because memorizing numbers amuses me. Granted, memorizing powers of 2 up to 2^16 (I initially stopped there because it is the last power below 100,000) is pretty useful in computer science classes, lol, whereas memorizing pi is just a pointless amusement.
