Another Fun Fact: If you are careful with your portal placements you can softlock the final cutscene. You can get in to the cake room and place the companion cube on the cake, and then with careful moves you can portal back to the level and beat GLaDOS. When the cutscene plays, the cube is on the cake, and when the claw comes down it gets stuck on the cube. The game is programmed not to run credits unless the claw can put the candle out, which it can't.

@osmium68324 ай бұрын
@@Yuni-is-Schrodingers-Fox On the contrary, I think it was a fair and reasonable move even if he was wrong. Being a streamer and managing hundreds or thousands of people in chat while competently playing a game and being entertaining for hours on end is really hard. If you're trying to get information and a small number of people are spamming a seemingly wrong answer that you already tried, a few well placed timeouts can cut down on the visual clutter dramatically. Banning or verbally harassing the user would have been a dick move, but a brief timeout let him stay on task and figure out the situation. This video edits out the thousand other times that someone kept repeating the same bad advice that really was wrong, which led him to waste time attempting something that couldn't work. Streamers have to deal with that kind of situation dozens of times per stream. It sucks for both the streamer and the audience when they get "one-guy'ed" and some actions need to be taken to minimize it. The moment he realized that wasn't the case here, he made it right and even compensated that person/people with a $5 sub.

The usual softlocking solution is to open the door with the two buttons, shoot a portal into the room, then throw one of the cubes from the floor through the orange portal! Since the only way to get up to where the orange portal is is to use a portal, and there's no way to open the door while you're up on the platform, there's no way for you to walk or portal through the door in a way that can help you solve the chamber!

I love that it lets you through on most of the softlocks they anticipated. It makes sense cause most of them take at least as much outside the box thinking as the intended solutions.

New favorite Portal lets play. Trying to softlock and skip in every chamber on your first playthrough feels true to the game, especially since you'd already played 2

I've played this game like 15 times and I never once thought to do ANY of this. This was beautiful to watch.

I love how humble smant is. Timed a guy out realized he was wrong, removed the ban and then gave a sub. Kudos. most other streamers would say it sucks to suck

I love the test where when he soft locks himself, the doors just explode open. Like Glados has just HAD IT and explodes the door to stop the fooling around as quickly as possible.

I love how this went from play portal to softlock portal to softlock/skip portal to save cube to save the wrench XD

In the companion cube level, there’s a high ledge you can’t portal up to. If you try to toss the cube up there, there’s a wind that pushes it back out. Kinda funny seeing all of the different ways the game tries to prevent softlocking.

Fun fact: you have to soft lock yourself one time to 100% the game

3:17 Yeah, in this room you have to be smart enough to softlock yourself instead of dumb enough

softlocking yourself is such a dumb move that it loops around to requiring smart gameplay

Fun fact: there's a _true_ softlock in 16. In the first energy ball room, in the corner with the observation room, with pixel-perfect precision you can shoot a portal through the corner of the glass into the observation room. Then just shoot the other color portal in with you, and since you can't get the right angle to portal yourself back out, BAM! Softlock city!
