I don't know if there's even any there in New Zealand but if you can get your hands on one try an East German Simson S51 or S50 bike. They'll easily go 60+km/h which is absolutely wicked for a 50. Here in Eastern Europe they are legendary little machines. Proper big bike ergonomics and manual gearbox. I absolutely love mine!

The only Simson I know of in NZ is an old Schwalbe which I love the look of but it's not super fast I think. I wish NZ had more European models from that era.

I once met two young women in South Lake Tahoe who had driven their Honda step through 50 cc Cubs there all the way from Saskatchewan, Canada. This machine reminds me of them :)

What a ride that would have been! My uncle lived at Lake Tahoe for years in the 90s. Never been myself, but if I go then a 50cc Honda Cub would be a great vehicle to visit with.
