Just rewatched this one. Curious how it compares to the Savage Mark II. Do you have a preference? I think the Savage looks better but the 10/22 mags are a big plus, and it sounds like the Winchester has a better trigger.

I have always been a fan of Savage firearms but, you're right, the 10/22 mags are a huge plus. I think the only Mark II I have, is chambered in Mach 2 and its a much older one. I believe you're correct, the Winchester trigger does seem to be better. Thanks for watching!

The trigger group looks very Savage Accutrigger-y. Take those E-clips off and I'll bet there is a way to replace whatever spring is in there to get the pull range down lower. For the sights, you could measure the distances between screw holes for both front and rear, and perhaps find scope bases that fit. The guys in Turkey might have even designed it to use available bases, as they did with the magazine. This would be a great gun to pair with the semi, considering they share mags and also use Ruger mags. Good shooting!

You are probably correct, in fact, someone made a comment on here about another set of bases they used on theirs. I do like that they utilize the 10/22 mags, it just adds to the versatility. Thanks for watching!

Nice aim, I'm sure you're still accurate than most, 100 yards with iron sights isn't all that easy! I'm surprised how close the sights are actually. I was considering getting this one, I have about a dozen old .22s. Cooey 600, Cooey 75, Lakefield Savage MK3, Mossberg 351k, FN 1912, and a bunch of other oddballs. All of them just have a quirk or two that I don't like. All I want is a bolt action, with a bottom fed mag, good sights, and the option to put a scope on. Without spending an absurd amount of course. I like the rear peep sight on the semi auto wildcat, it's a shame they couldn't fit something similar on this one. That's the only thing holding me back right now, I'm sure these sights aren't as bad as I imagine, but do I reaaaally need another 22 that still doesn't check every box? Especially since it's apparently hard to get the scope mount for this gun? Hmmmmm lol
@SmallCaliberArmsReview Жыл бұрын
We all NEED another .22! Lol. It's tough to find any gun that is everything we want, right out of the box. I think that's one of the things that makes firearms fun, customizing! Thanks for watching!

Appreciate the review of this weapon. 👍 You really had a tough time with those sights. Failing eyesight can be rough. Personally, after cataract surgery in both eyes, I can't use dots or scopes. My eyes are still great at a distance, the close up stuff is what gives me the problems. Fifty yards is still a pretty good distance to try for accuracy with open sights, that 1/2" bullseye on the splatter target is tiny at that distance! Thanks for watching!

Another good one Richard! I picked up the semiauto version as soon as they offered a threaded barrel. Of course it came with a long sight radius and a rail. Funny they couldn't do the same for the Xpert model as well. Mine sets by the backdoor with a red dot on it for skunks and other nuisance critters. Not as accurate or finished as well as a Tikka T1x, CZ 457 and the like but neither is the price. I still have a hard time say "Winchester" and "made in Turkey" in the same sentence. JimE

Saw this listed at Cabela's, and hadn't heard of it, so I found your video. You answered my main question, which was whether it is, like the semi-auto Wildcat, compatible with 10/22 mags. Good Review. About a year ago I started following this rifle and was really looking forward to buying one. Then the reviews pointed out that there really is no rail/scope base for this. The Winchester website says to contact a local dealer for the rail and none of them even know where to find one since Winchester doesn't produce them. That turned me off to buying one and went with a different option.

@@SmallCaliberArmsReview Just Joe Citizen back again. An employee at a local gun shop told me that they finally figured out what mounts will work for scope. When a manufacturer comes out with a new product that would require a base for a scope, include the $5 part or wait till you release it. The dry fire will eventually destroy its FP because people forget round count. In my opinion do it right or do not do it at all. I look at my Rugers and CZ this rifle looks like a toy.

Here is the problem with a 4.5lb gun with a 4 lb trigger. You are pulling the weight of the gun just to get the trigger to go off. It will never be as accurate unless that trigger can be brought down to 2lbs or less. I had guys in a forum who none of them could get a Browning T-Volt to shoot under a quarter at 25 years. I bought one. It was a gorgeous gun. It was another 4.5 lb gun. I weighed the trigger when I got it home. 9 lbs was the trigger, so me with smithing experience I tore into the trigger assembly. It had a torsion spring. You know, like a safety pin. Two legs with a couple of coils in the middle. I took some spring stock and made a new spring. Got that 9lb trigger down to 2 lbs. went to shoot it and after sighting it in, put 3 shots through one bullet hole. Could not even be measured. You could not drop an empty .22lr case on the hole it was too tight. So trigger weight and gun weight is extremely important if you want an accurate rifle. It need to be at least half what the gun weighs.
