I have probably, at one time or another, owned just about every type of single action there is except for the 1875. I haven't culled them by any means, I just haven't ran into a good buy when I was in the gun buying mood. However; I do have several Cimarrons, and must say their guns are usually a little higher standard than most and the people there are great to deal with. Mike Harvey is the President there and is just an awesome guy in my book. As always, I enjoyed the video. I will be keeping my eye out for the holster video that we all know is coming sooner or later

I have a 1875 in the 5 1/2" barrel. Absolutely love shooting it! I find that with the little bit of extra length in the frame to the grip if when I pull the trigger and it fires I let my arm and wrist roll with the recoil of the gun. That seams to keep it in my hand in the right grip. Mine is a 357 and even with the mag load it stays put in my hand. I shoot all my SAA Uberti's one handed duelist style. Have Uberti's 1873 in 4 3/4",and 5 1/2". Oh forgot LoL I slightly bend my shooting arm at the elbow. Not a lot just a little that helps with what I call the roll and also brings the sights up in line. Hope it helps enjoyed the video.

This is a copy and paste directly from the Pietta manual, available on the Cimarron website. (If I remember correctly, the 1875 Remington is made by Pietta. All manuals for the firearms Cimarron sells, are available on their website, free of charge) "USE ONLY FACTORY MADE AMMUNITION. THE MATERIALS OF THIS FIREARM HAVE BEEN SELECTED ACCORDING TO THE FACTORY MADE AMMUNITION PRESSURES. THE RIFLING AND THE CHAMBER SIZE OF THIS FIREARM HAVE BEEN SELECTED ACCORDING TO THE FACTORY MADE AMMUNITION SIZE." There may be other warnings for ammunition types located in the specific manuals for the firearm you are wanting to purchase. Read the manuals thoroughly and carefully, don't rely solely on what some guy on KZbin says! Thanks for Watching!

I posted a video on my channel of my most recent shooting session in April with my Uberti 1858 new model army revolver shooting HSM .45 LC 200 grain cowboy loads using my Howell .45 LC conversion cylinder shooting 5 shots in that session at a cantaloupe from about 30 feet away and I managed to hit the cantaloupe a few times. So that just has a safety notch. They didn’t put system where when you pull the trigger it engages a rod in the hammer that locks the firing pin? Like they did on the 1873 ?
@SmallCaliberArmsReview Жыл бұрын
They have several different systems for their pistols but it's a little more than the safety notch on a colt. The small piece under the firing pin toggles down somehow, it can be seen moving from the backside of the hammer when it engages. Thanks for watching!

I highly recommend cowboy guns! I would also recommend trying both a Colt and Remington style before you decide, if you can. Some people like one grip more than the other but it's a personal preference thing. Cimarron carries both models and they have lots of choices. Thanks for watching!
@wheelguns4wheelmen802 Жыл бұрын
Based on the splits between head shots, I'd say the sight picture is more than sufficient for combat aiming, even one-handed. And at closer ranges, you can fan it from the hip or slip-fire while point shooting. Not that I recommend carrying this as your EDC, but just goes to show that these made good tools back in the day for lots of professions. Nice shooting.
@SmallCaliberArmsReview Жыл бұрын
Thanks. There are people that DO carry BP revolvers for EDC, and although there are better choices, they will do the job. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

My 1875 in 357 has had a nasty habit of breaking ejector rods. Where the rod meets the nut is a weak point. I'd suggest buying a replacement. I've also had a few other issues, but do like the gun.
@SmallCaliberArmsReview Жыл бұрын
That's odd, are your rounds getting stuck in the cylinder? My empties seem to fall out or just need a gentle tap and they let loose. I don't believe I've ever seen a broken ejector rod on a revolver, unless it was dropped.
@showtime2629 Жыл бұрын
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I think the problem started from using steel case ammo and it bent/ broke the ejector. I'm now on my second or third ejector and I've been being fairly delicate. I suspect the cylinder pin it might be a little bend now which is causing more force on the ejector. Any way, the connection of the ejector to the nut is a potential fragile point.

I have the Uberti in nickel, beautiful but defective. As long as you get a good unit, you'll probably be fine, but if it's defective, be prepared for a long, long wait, and possibly no correction. I found Benelli/Stoeger/Uberti customer service very poor, taking nearly 3 months to not bother trying to duplicate my issue, eventually sending my gun back to me un-repaired.

Yours is the first video out of the six I've watched on the 1875 Remington clone that shows the safety in the hammer. While I'd rather have it true to the original, at least it isn't like the new internal hammer and floating pin safety in the Cattleman II 1873 Colt clone. Thanks for a good review. Now if I can find either the Uberti or Cimarron version (same thing, really). I like the blued and case color model.
