I think these machines should have remote controls (either wired or wireless). It would be more comfortable standing or sitting next to the machine. You could position yourself to get better view of what you're doing, and you could maneuver the machine into tighter spaces.

I think it needs your weight to be efficient though. But a separate remote-controlled version with heavy weight added wouldn't be a bad idea.

It can't be remote controlled because the weight of the operator is what produces the digging force. Without a person, when it goes to dig it will just tilt upward and scrape across the surface of the soil.

These are discontinued now. The smallest that Kubota produce is the K005-3 I think at 500kg I wouldn’t mind either a PC01 or the K005 for garden work grubbing our roots where you can’t get in a bigger machine.
