It is so small that I took it into my vacation, hand luggage, airplane. They don’t even see it on the xray machine 😃

It is actually quite impressive. The price isn't even all that scary either. I do need to get around to getting one. They can be immensely useful troubleshooting in my job as a mechanic.

The camera alone is about $250. Definitively something that can help you to find problems. Like for example hot bearings...

Having been a certified thermographer in a previous life, I can tell you that some professional training is a very good idea if you plan to use your results for any high-value judgments. Aside, the emissivity problem can also be solved with electrical tape or the talc spray used as developer in liquid penetrant crack detection kits.

Yeah, I always have a roll of black tape im my camera case. It needs some experience to realize what you actually see. But it's surprising every new day. 🙂

The big advantage of this chinese camera is framerate. US export restrictions does not allow US made cameras from companies like FLIR thermal cameras with framerate above 12FPS. (I think it is due to use in military). Now China has their own tech and they are of course not beholden to such restrictions.

That may be the reason why I can't record videos with my Flir cam... Yes I also noticed that the chinese camera is very "real-time" 🙂

I bought mine one month ago because of a video I saw, and couldn't believe the framerate. Cool camera, works really nice on windows as well, but the Android app is kina bad and doesn't record audio

@@PlaywithJunk Just to say what's failing or what's happening to others. For instance, fault finding something on a PCB or a wire in a fuse box, and then showing it to someone else, usually requires some explanation. You actually did it as well :) (you talked over the thermal video). But it's just a small nit pick, the camera is really cool and capable, more than flir!
