Tom Welling was a fantastic Superman. With a ten year run he should have been in the suit for the last 3 seasons. I sometimes wish they didn’t hire Tom Welling and someone that was willing to get in the suit. Then there’s the terrible Arrowverse cameo that I will do my best to forget. That was his chance to finally give the fans what they’ve been begging for and... nope. Not only no suit, but gave up his powers because I guess you can’t have a family and be a Superhero at the same time?? Then now we’re getting a Superman and Lois show that has him with a family. ??? Even with my gripes about him not wearing the suit , Smallville is still the best CW DC show.
@rogvortex583 жыл бұрын
@@jackdennis3511 It is the best. And still the longest. As for him not wearing the suit. Personally, I feel that even though he never wore it, in the context of the finale Clark still did wear it. He became Superman, flew, saved Air Force One and then the world. So I was pretty satisfied with the ending.

They had him on the “crisis on infinite earths” storyline in the arrowverse(should be the smallvilleverse imo) and they made it so Toms Clark GAVE UP HIS POWERS!! It really pissed me off, Clark’s progression into superman was basically all for nothing. He’d learned over 10 seasons that he needed his powers because the world needed him, he wouldn’t have given up his powers. I was really disappointed. Currently watching smallville all the way through again. Lol
@HeyitsmeOakleyD3 жыл бұрын
@Rough Collies Rock well they were in between choosing Brandon rouths and Tom wellings superman to play the part of the superman that Brandon rougt repraised. In the end it was easier to use Brandon because he was already on the main sets and play ray palmer. So he could switch between roles if needed to. And it closes off routh’s version of reeves superman and gives him a second televised adventure. Even tho wellings Clark giving up his powers pissed me off, at least we had a close to the series. But hopefully they write it so that one of the smallville characters or actors (apart from Erica durance because she has already) return as their respective character or just have them come back for a episode

"You can't be creative in survival mode" is SO TRUE. Weirdly that's actually how I realized I had anxiety (which I'd had all my life but did not really know what it was.) I finally put 2 and 2 together when the worst bought of anxiety I'd ever had happened at the same time I was trying to choreograph a dance piece and I just could. not. produce. ideas. Dancing however is still my number one best way I have to manage anxiety and get out of my head -- something about exercise that is also emotionally expressive really helps me work out my thoughts without actively thinking about it and getting stuck in bad thought spirals. I would 100% NOT be who I am today if I did not find that outlet.
@Serenity1133 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly how I am atm with my writing. I found myself feeling uninspired and hopeless. I just feel like I’m just wasting time like I should be doing something productive and useful but I’m trying to fight through it and not let my anxiety destroy my creativity. It’s hard tho but I am trying.
@shannondanceswithkitties3 жыл бұрын
@MaryEllen Brokop I'm not everyone and I don't doubt there are people who do manage to create in the thick of it, but for me I could use crisis for inspiration later after things are a bit better, but not during when it's taking every ounce of energy to do base level things like get myself out of bed and make myself eat food.

@@Serenity113 Trying is the best we can do sometimes -- don't be too hard on yourself!
@Serenity1133 жыл бұрын
@MaryEllen Brokop Well there’s a difference. In my case along with my anxiety comes self doubt. I am stressed and worried and anxious about what is going on in the world, about getting job, and having money etc I have had panic attacks about these things and that spills out to my creativity. It makes it feel as if it’s not enough it’s not practical so why bother doing it. Even tho I love it and I have ideas of what stories I want to be told. For others they have an overwhelming sense of emotions, the stress or anxiety is just too much that they use creativity to let it out, because they can’t express what they are feeling in any other way so it comes out in dancing, singing, painting, etc. so yeah for some it does become an outlet but for others it hinders it.

I've just been watching a couple of the smallville podcasts and happened upon this and ... wow thank you for this. Sometimes, even with many people around you who you KNOW love you, you just feel like you're going through something like this alone. Michael nailed it when he said he didn't even know where it was coming from, but you just keep focusing on everything negative that COULD happen. I've found that what you do is create a LIE in your head about a situation or a person ... it's not anything based in reality, just your own fears. Then you're thinking you have to catch yourself and not project that false reality onto the people around you in the real world ... which i believe is why it's so hard to talk to other people about anxiety or depression ... 1) you don't want to put them in that same headspace and 2) you don't want them to think of you as THAT person. The knowledge that other people who you believe have their *stuff together are experiencing the same thing helps ... not because misery loves company, but because you then realize that literally billions of other people go through the same thing and still manage to get through life without losing it.

I’m artistic in that I sing and draw and write but my daughter takes it to a much more creative and original and passionate way where she is also a perfectionist about it and very detailed and she is truly just an artist, I’m sure I would or could have been too, not to her extent of research and honing her craft but I realized later she must get the basics or the affinity from me but she resents me so much for working all the time and not teaching her or helping her with anything or sending her to classes or being supportive or taking her places to have fun that every thing feels like work to her and she is in a bad headspace she turned 18 recently and I always said from when she was born if she was with other parents she would go so far in life and would have resources I never gave her. I called it similar to her having potential energy and without resources and support it never reaches or turns into kinetic energy… so I guess the potential energy doesn’t really matter unless it’s pushed or flourished into the kinetic energy, so I’m glad your adoptive mom was so good at cultivating your true potential

It's refreshing to know that celebs are just like us and not everything is sunshine & roses cuz social media skews your perception with the non-stop "happy" pics they post. Me and my then ex-wife also used to go to therapy and it was the best decision we made because it made us realize that as much as we loved each other (very much still to this day) it was never going to fundamentally work in the grand scheme of things, we were better off being co-parents. Life is so damn short so you gotta think about your own mental health and happiness. Going to therapy was the best decision we made because we're now happier than ever separately and our relationship is much more whole for our kids. Thanks for this great interview Michael! it's nice knowing that celebs are just like us and what they project on social media isn't the whole truth, they too feel the way we do with anxiety and personal dilemmas.

I’ve had anxiety my whole life and in the last few years it’s shifted to what I call “misplaced anxiety”. Nothing is upsetting me, but that dread feeling comes in. It’s very frustrating. I loved how you went into this with Erica Durance. It’s good to bring attention to it being so common.

I've been having anxiety this past month and I'm worried about it been to multiple doctors everyone says I'm fine can u tell me ur symptoms
@LawlTwins3 жыл бұрын
@@ronniedavis9627 Thats incredibly irresponsible of them (Probably so swamped they are getting you out the door, basically GP's don't give a shit|) If you are that worried that you've been too multiple Dr's kind of says enough. My Anxiety manifests in many way, it makes me feel like I don't want to go outside due to fear of interaction with people, although it can be as simple as knowing I have to do a task (Clean a room for instance) and I will do everything to put it off because thinking about it causes me pain (Not physical really but I get a bit of a headache). The Dr's should be recommending therapy/trying differrent drugs/doses on you to find one that works (It's shit but the drugs DO work for some people). Sorry I can't help more I have been dealing with this for over 10 years and I don't have an answer or clear path in sight, all i can say is keep trying to see Dr's (Lie a bit to make it more serious if needed) Or look up Behavioral Therapy which is all about mindsets and trying to break Anxiety. I'm sure there are courses you can do (I did it online) for free although I'm in the UK where we have those benefits, I know not all countries do. Good luck Ronnie, ask away if you want to know anything else and I'll do my best.

@@ronniedavis9627 nothing is more frustrating than unhelpful doctors. My anxiety, like the other poster who responded, has levels to it and different reactions depending on those levels. It's also evolved since I was a kid, which is when I started medication for it. I have a pretty good handle on it most of the time now, but I still get flare ups. When it's low level I'll feel kind of 'off', usually with some dread for no reason. I'll wake up in the morning with an upset stomach and have to go to the bathroom. My appetite will start to go away or be really low. I'll notice I'm ruminating on negative thoughts, usually over analyzing little things that I can normally brush off. Usually I notice it's happening by then and can kind of self talk my way through it. Telling myself it's temporary and that I always have gotten over it every time before helps. Basically logic my way out of it, which can be easier said than done. I also try to do things to keep busy. Socialize, go for a walk, force myself to have fun. Sometimes though the thoughts exhaust me and I just kind of shut down and have to go to sleep, which usually helps too. Then there's the next stage that I call the spiral, when the Cortisol hormone in me starts flipping out and am awoken from anxiety. This is usually when things get messed up for me because getting sleep deprived makes it worse. I'll wake up every morning feeling sick and sometimes throw up if it's really bad. My appetite is gone by this point, so I usually lose weight during these really bad ones lol. Using the 8-6-4 breathing method helps me when it's bad like this. Breathe in for 8 seconds, hold for 6 seconds, breathe out for 4 seconds and repeat. It forces your heart rate to slow down, which mine is usually high at this time. As the other poster said, there are different kinds of treatments for it. Doctors will just throw drugs at the problem, which can work or might not. I have my own complicated feelings on having been medicated since I was a kid and to be honest, most the times I have my bad spirals is when I try to ween off or lower my dose. So who's the clown LOL. There's also cognitive behavioral therapy where you basically train your brain to get out of these negative thought patterns that lead to anxiety. I've not personally tried that, because money, but you can tool around on youtube for some helpful tips. I don't know what kind of symptoms you're having, but as with any medical thing, you have to be your own advocate and keep going until you find the right doctor for you who will make you feel comfortable and heard. Anxiety can be mental as well as physical, so if you're having feelings like that I assure you it's normal and you're not alone. It's just a matter of how debilitating it is to your life and how you want to go about handling it. Finding out your own triggers and what works the best at counter acting them is something that takes time, but it always passes, I promise you.

Smallville helped a lot of people who don’t have good self esteem and feel lonely in life. Smallville helped me through my depression and loneliness. When I watched the show I felt alive, felt hope and I dreamed of how one day I could fight for people who can’t fight for themselves. I found that through joining the US military. Smallville told the story of a boy going through life trivial and and becoming the man whose destiny is to great to phantom for us mortals. I liked how it shows Lex slowly becoming the adversary of Clark. They could not have found a better young Clark Kent than Tom Welling. Smallville will always have a special place in my memory. I still watch reruns when I get the chance.

Apart of me doesn’t want to finish smallville cause I know I’ll be sad. But here you guys are, just best buds. Makes me happy

Re-Watching Smallville RIGHT NOW as typing this, on S07E17 Sleeper. This is my 4th time and one obvious sign of a good show is it's rewatchibility (if that's a word). I have seen every episode of all the Arrowverse shows and while most of those are pretty good but I have zero desire to rewatch anything but the major crossover events.

Happened across this on KZbin, and I’ve got to say, it’s really heartening to see you doing this format. You excel at it in my opinion and it’s of course very interesting to see actors, musicians, etc. open up and show who they actually are. We get to see these larger than life characters be real and show that we are all the same other than crazy circumstances you all get to be in due to your vocations. I’ve subscribed and will continue to watch your shows as long as you put them out. Cheers!
