I'm revisiting this 10 years later. I never watched this on the cw. My husband and I met in 2011. This was one of our first binge tv shows. It had just ended, so we watched all 10 seasons. It's still quality. I'm glad more people are finding it.

The intro with Doomsday is coming and then a picture of Lana. Hilarious😂😂. I agree, it was really rewarding to see Lois and Clark finally working at the Daily Planet, Clark embracing his role as a hero and emotionally maturing. I do love the episode where Jimmy takes a picture of the Blur and finds out about Clark’s powers. It is my favorite episode in the season because it feels so much like a comic book. Also, thank you for the shout out! I literally screamed when I saw it, even though I knew it was coming. As usual , great review and video!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Your comment was great and I had to include it. I had other thoughts for the intro but then that just fell together and it cracked me up, lol! The best part of season 8 for me was watching Lois and Clark be a team. Smallville is brilliant but when they did that I realized that's what I've been waiting for.

Wanna know who else hit the pause button for Clark's growth? Chloe once she fully knew the secret as of season 5. Look how proactive Clark was in season 3 when he was protecting his friends like Lex & Chloe from the likes of Lionel Luthor, and despite Clark taking losses that season due to inexperience, he certainly was mature in the resolve he had and how he didn't sit back and need Pete or others to tell him when to act. In fact, at times he went against Jonathan's wishes to protect Lex from Lionel despite how Jonathan did not want him getting on Lionel's crosshairs and knew how dangerous he was. Fast forward to season 5 and Clark suddenly can't think for himself anymore and needs Chloe to do stuff for him she was never able to do in the previous seasons, such as hacking. Suddenly they turned her from a lovable but flawed character (especially when it involved Clark's secret and his adoption as we saw in season 1's Zero and throughout season 3) into a damn Mary Sue, the most disgusting and unrealistic type of character who is just there to fill whatever plot device and has no character of their own with definable boundaries. It got so bad that once she was talking about piggybacking signals in what I think was the episode Mercy, I was literally yelling at the TV "just shut the f up" whenever she spoke because I had it with the bullshit. If anyone needed to be gone after season 3 besides Lana, it was Chloe. I liked her for the most part in season 4, other than in Blank where again they made her extremely annoying with the bullshit motherly role she took. Clark already had a mother and one who could run circles around Chloe who didn't even have any experience in dealing with Clark's secret, unlike Martha who had plenty of it. Chloe started as a prototype Lois Lane whose role on the series was a school newspaper reporter and lost her purpose once the real Lois showed up, even though it was years until Lois became a reporter herself. They should've killed her off in the meteor shower when she was still mostly what she was intended to be before they first turned her into a Mary Sue with hacker skills that came out of nowhere and later even had her hide the bodies of Davis' victims and cost Jimmy his life when she interfered with Clark sending Davis to the Phantom Zone. It made me sick to see what they did with my once favorite young female character in the series. I truly despised the way she handled Clark's secret---as if she was entitled to be his guide and his brain with the "protect Clark from himself & what he doesn't see" bullshit that enraged me so much when the characters who knew nothing about how it was like to be in Clark's skin would make decisions for him and would have an ends justifies the means mentality which is the most anti-Superman mentality and exactly what Jonathan taught him never to do or be like. They even ruined Martha's character in season 9 with that Red Queen trash plot they gave her. It made me sick as a long time fan of the series and a longer Superman fan from the comics. Another thing---when you spoke about Lana's actions in season 7's Wrath when she had a taste of Clark's power, one thing you didn't mention that was so blatantly obvious to me is how Lana had become so much like Lex by that time. Listen to what she says about Clark & the way he treats his powers right before Clark takes them away from her and compare it to what Lex tells him in the finale. Here are some scenes from Wrath: Lex with Lana describing how much alike they really are in contrast to Clark: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3-zeY2il7hoe6c Lana telling Clark how he doesn't want to get blood on his hands (listen especially what she says at 3:34 about how Clark could do anything & all he did was hide out on his farm): kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3-zeY2il7hoe6c Lex in the series finale saying what killed him was how Clark didn't even want his powers & hid from them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHTHgoChnM6kbtE You can't have Lana being more like Lex by the time season 7 came along. With the way she faked her death, the way she paid that hippie woman to have Lionel kidnapped after the water at the dam caused him to get washed away, and all the other cryptic things she was doing at the Isis Foundation that seemed eerily similar to things Lex did throughout the series like keeping that Clark obsession room, starting up Level 33.1, and all those projects Lex had. Lana plays the self righteous card but is anything but righteous. She is projecting like crazy when it comes to Lex and she has plenty of blood on her hands too. Like Lex, she was unhealthily obsessed with Clark's secret and only found out through underhanded means because Clark did not trust her (at least not after how the first thing she did in Reckoning after being told was go to Lex which got herself killed). You could even see hints of it in season 1 when Lana takes Lex's advice and goes "to the mattresses" to compete against the Beanery, which is the opposite of what Clark would've done and what Jonathan taught him. You can clearly see how all the bad decisions Lana made, especially in trusting Lex, were due to not having a father figure like Jonathan around to teach her like Clark did. Lana gladly accepted all the gifts and help Lex gave her, unlike Clark who turned a good percentage of it down. So Lana & Lex are both severely power hungry and neither are ever comfortable with Clark unless they're on an equal footing with him. Perfect example was the orb that ended up taking Clark's powers away after Lex plugged it into the Fortress. Funny how it all ended with her being poison to Clark much like she was in the Pilot when she had her kryptonite necklace around her neck. As a fan of the series since season 2 when I got hooked (as of Insurgence---I did see some season 1 episodes when they originally aired like Drone, but the few I saw were fillers and didn't attract me fully at the time), by the time season 5 rolled around, I was hoping for Chloe & Lana to be written off while Lois would be the lead female character among the young ones with Clark as the lead male and have those 2 go to college together along with Jimmy & Pete and have the 4 of them be in a clique. Cat Grant introduced a lot earlier as a college student than she ultimately was (at the Daily Planet) as another female to counter Lois would've been cool to see. I especially wanted Clark & Lois to be shown growing into their respective reporter roles by actually progressing and earning those roles since a huge newspaper like the Daily Planet would never hire them with the limited credentials they had the way they were actually thrown into those jobs. I think it would've been best done with Clark working at the Smallville Ledger as a co-op student while taking his college courses and with Lois doing the same at the Metropolis Inquisitor and both would run into each other frequently for some banter and both would bring great accolades to their respective newspapers for the articles they would turn in. Then by season 8 or 9 both would end up at the Daily Planet as a result of those accolades. I think it was the biggest letdown how they didn't develop the journalism side of Clark more because not only does he save people as a superhero but also as Clark Kent the reporter with the things he exposes to the public to warn them of. One last thing is that the real Lex Luthor never died. There's no way Oliver killed Lex because Lex is Sageeth in the cave prophecy that came true in Talisman and was destined to not die. We saw Lex in the finale in the LX0 chamber awaiting the final organ transplant, and remember you can't transplant organs from clones onto or into a pile of ash. I went into this idea in great detail and it's amazing how there are so many clues and pieces of evidence that Lex is not only alive but active in the background of the series without Clark or anyone else realizing it. There is one thing especially chilling regarding what Jor-El tells Clark in a certain episode and how if you look at it from my perspective that Lex never died, it would mean that Jor-El was referring to something far different and more dangerous than Clark assumed he was referring to. They could literally do a mini series with Lex's activities during seasons 8-10 while everyone assumed him to be dead if they ever decide to put my theory into action and being Smallville back in some form (maybe animated).

The thing that is frustrating about this season. Is that the fact is we’re having a big build up for Clark’s Character growth and him finally jumping into his full destiny as Superman and be together with Lois Lane. And then at the moment when Clark and Lois were about to Kiss. Lana Lang Aka The Poison of the show returns and we’re taking many steps backwards and we’re going to repeat the same stupid love teenager drama. About Lana feeling that she has the right of having superpowers. All these other girls that Clark was dating with. They’re showing the best part of Clark of being in a relationship with Chloe Lois Alicia and Kyla. And then when Clark is with Lana Aka the Nightmare poison of the show. It’s like more stupid superheroes drama. That is really frustrating to me.

I said it many times. The one giant fault in the writing of this show is that they made Clark Kent a man with the emotional maturity of a toddler. Sure, he lost his virginity to Lana, I understand the emotional attachment. Then she has sex with his coach, then she has sex with his best friend. Then she has sex with Bizarro. Lana Lang's vagina was another meteor crater in Smallville. She was a good character during the high school years and a bit after. But at this point in the show, I was hoping she'd be written off the show already.

Man, as a believer in Christ myself, I love how you show the parallels between the Word of God and season 8, as disappointing as it was for me (for me the thing I despised the most at the end was the way they killed Jimmy off after how refreshing he was as a character and how much I loved seeing him with Clark & with Lois and especially with both as seen in Stiletto in that scene where they all help/save each other). What you mentioned at the end regarding Lois speaking with him as the Blur on the phone is what I pinpointed a while back as the moment Clark falls completely for Lois. Up until then, he certainly loved her as a friend and started wanting to pursue her for more, but it wasn't until then that he saw a woman he could share his entire life with even though at that point he wasn't being 100% transparent and was using the Blur persona to keep the secret from her due to fear of Lois knowing his secret being too dangerous for her as seen in Infamous before he used the Legion ring. For the first time he listens to a woman not wanting things from him or pressing him for the truth but instead someone who wants to be there for him and be a listening ear and if possible help him. It was like the type of love/consideration his parents and Pete had for him except a romantic one. This is why he becomes so territorial with Lois in the episodes after Stiletto, especially once she returns. Like in Rabid when he's about to leave Oliver & Lois and sternly tells Oliver not to take his eyes off Lois and let anything bad happen to her. Or like the climax scene in Crossfire where Oliver & Lois are being shot at on the rooftop and how Clark shows up and is so angry with Oliver that he allows the bullet to come within an inch of his eye before grabbing it & holding it at that spot for Oliver to see. I'm wondering what your thoughts are/were of the Veritas plot from season 7 and all the appearances it made in seasons 8, 9 & 10. I really hated it because it was a huge retcon and I didn't like the way they contradicted the past events where it was clear Lionel was not aware of, nor expecting to find any alien when you watch the early seasons of the series. I think the best way they could've done it is have Veritas be a product of the time travel Brainiac did in season 7 when he went back to Krypton but have the changes take shape in Earth-2 which is the only believable place where Lionel ends up finding Clark on the day of the meteor shower. It's clear as of the Pilot flashbacks and the flashbacks in Lineage that there was no Davis attached to Clark's ship. In fact, it seems like Brainiac put the Davis/Doomsday genetically spliced material on Clark's ship and that is precisely the reason he was laughing at Clark & Kara before she slammed that ice/rock on top of him: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXyQdWOFbZeeZ68 I think it would've been best done if they wrote that plot in a way where Kara's actions not ended up in any Veritas journal (like Clark was noticing as he read the journal in the present day) & revealed that the Krypton that Brainiac, Kara & Clark went back to was the Krypton of the universe of Earth-2 that was created precisely when Brainiac & Kara arrived there so as to preserve the original history of events that happened in the past where Jor-El & Lara were the ones to put Clark in his ship uninterrupted. They could've created the Earth-2 universe in real time during season 7 and cut back to Earth where things would start changing drastically and the Luthor Mansion window would evolve along with other things rumbling and shaking as reality would shift and things would not be as they last were. Then all of a sudden after a commercial break, the normal world would be shown again where the world we saw briefly just moments ago would be revealed as Earth-2 in perhaps the following season or saved for season 10. That's how I think Veritas should've been done because the way they did it was horrible with the retcon and completely unrealistic because there would've been no way Jonathan Kent would've found Clark before Lionel if Lionel knew for years that Clark would be arriving that day and especially with all the resources that he had. And even less realistic is how Lionel would've ever assisted the Kents in their adoption of Clark instead of knowing that Clark was the Traveler if Veritas existed back then. That one aspect is the #1 reason I despise Veritas being retconned to be part of Earth-1's history. If Lionel's men had a toddler Davis taken to be tested if he was the traveler after find him (a young boy naked on the field) then there's no way they would've glossed over Clark and not tested him while screwing the Kents over which Earth-1 Lionel could've easily done. If they took this path that I laid out, then Davis/Doomsday could've shown up on Earth-1 as a result of Clark Luthor (Ultraman) sending Davis through a portal in his Fortress before deactivating the Fortress along with Jor-El with Earth-2 Lionel.

Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoy the channel! Yeah, season 8 really was better upon the rewatch. I agree this season was a season where Clark maned up more and stood on his own. Plus him and Lois as a team showed us what this show had been missing all this time. And the symbolism of Davis Bloom, the human side of Doomsday, being the monster was deep.

Since Davis Bloome landed on earth along side Clark Kent during meteor shower, I can't help but wish and imagine Davis showing up all the way in the pilot and he's a main character/regular and the closest friend to Clark from seasons 1-8. Davis is actually the first one to figure out Clark's identity from the pilot as he overhears Jonathan tell Clark what he really is and Davis sees Clark use super speed. This would make the Naman and Segieth dynamic impactful and almost plot-twisty, Clark's metaphorical death would hit even harder as it's backed-up by a sense of betrayal and Davis's fate would feel like is the most tragic out of all others.

See I could always kind of see what role Lana played in Clark’s arc where she always kinda represented his longing to be normal, his fear of being alone and rejecting his destiny, his guilt, and her dark side is constantly hinted at but the show doesn’t fully embrace it or seem self aware in Lana representing those things with how literally all the characters are always giving Lana excuses and putting her on a pedestal when she proves them otherwise. I keep going back and forth on if it was intentional by the writers for making her so toxic for him because the insane parallels it shows with how much better Lois is for him is so apparent. If it was a bit more self aware in what she truly represented and had Clark CHOOSE to not be with her because he realizes that she holds him back (something he’s always known deep down with how he could never really trust her enough and always found excuses not to tell her even when it made sense to tell her) The show was heavy on choices and the consequences and growth of those choices from Clark and they kinda dropped the ball in how they had his relationship with Lana end in being not really a choice from either of them. I liked how it showed just how entitled and a poison she was to Clark but her goodbye in the S7 finale would’ve been so much better as the last we see of them together.

Durban what is up my dude? Take a bow for that intro...Classic! Onward to the review. With the creators gone and Lex (Rosenbaum version) and Lana(mostly gone) how is season 8? Completely awesome as usual. Bring on Tess Mercer in the opening moments making her presence known right away. Making Oliver a regular was another great addition. It's the relationships and feelings both good and bitter between the characters that make the plots move. Like Oliver and Lex at Excelsior they wasted no time jumping into his flashback story on the island in Toxic already linking Tess and Oliver together from past events. Funny how he said he was on the island for 2 years and basically so was the Amell version since season 3 was in Hong Kong but back to Smallville. Plastique opened with a literal bang...heroics abound saving people in broad daylight and the shot of him carrying Tess out of the smoke is awesome. Right away Davis Bloome comes in. Ironic that Davis chose the job as a EMT to save lives when we know the outcome of his true nature. The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde springs to mind. Jimmy on the case for the Red Blue Blur in Identity was a awesome. Abyss offers a fascinating watch when Clark asks Jor El for help and for the first time calls him Father. Bride with the infamous return of the Lana beast and the actual Beast of Doomsday wedding crashing in turn deviating fashion. Geoff Johns, DC comic writer extraordinaire delivers a Smallville ethics episode. Mirroring Star Trek 3 where the needs of the one outweighed the needs of the many. Preserve life at all costs. The episode Eternal takes it all the way back to the Pilot episode to see it from another point of view. My only complaint id yes the final battle wasn't even a battle...could have been a 2 parter or to be continued wit Clark dying (or almost dying again) but alas. Jimmy dying was sad, but luckily was able to know the truth. The ending shot of the rise of Zod kept me on edge all summer long after I first saw it. Overall season 8 set the record straight that even with some missing cast, the show soared into new and familiar territory. Setting the stage for the epic penultimate season 9!

Just finished re-watching this season and it's definitely a great one! :) Clark joining Lois at the Daily Planet, becoming Metropolis' secret savior and discovering how much hope he brings out of people as the Red Blue Blur, the Doomsday arc started out so awesome. The first half was the BEST 11-12 episode run, culminating with "Bride" and "Legion"! Sigh.....then the Lana send off episodes...*vomit ensues*....then the second half not being as good. Hated Chloe protecting Doomsday! *more vomit continues* And the worst finale of the show's history! Ewwwww!!! -_- But at least this was a HUGE step forward after Season 7 sucked so much. Clark finally matured immensely and became a proactive hero, the Lois and Clark banter/romance was finally put center stage again and I really enjoyed the Brainaic/Doomsday team-up mid-season! :)

As someone who didn't grow up with the show, season 8 started off weird for me but I loved the Clark and Lois relationship and it kept me on board after I was ready to leave the show because I felt Lana's return was forced. For me the problem was never Kristen, it was just the writing for Kana lol. Overall, Season 8 felt more coherent than Season 7 but I'm currently watching Season 9 and I'm really liking it so in the grand scheme of things, I think Season 8 is alright, still good, but just alright to me.

I found the season kinda mediocre but not terrible. I didn’t hate it. I think the Doomsday storyline was mostly great. I think a lot of people hate it because it’s so much different from the comics and I get that but I’m the only person on planet earth who thinks this actually improved Doomsday as a character which is why Sam Witwer is my favorite Doomsday. Davis Bloom is the best part of the season. Witwer played the character so well. He was the best part of the season by far. He was so complex. It’s heartbreaking and extremely sad. I also of course love Tom Welling as Clark. He is my favorite Clark Kent/Superman of all time. I also love Erica Durance as Lois. She is also my favorite Lois. I like that the season focused on Lois and Clark more. It felt very natural. I also like Jimmy Olsen. His death is one of the saddest of the show. Literally right after he makes things up with Chloe and realizes he was right, the poor dude gets killed. Now my problems. The Lex plot line is just not great but it’s not the show’s fault. Michael Rosenbaum didn’t come back for this season so they had him with a mask played by Kevin Miller. He also sat there the whole time inside of a truck. Now first of all his death was just so unsatisfying. That’s pretty personal but I was just so disappointed. He deserved such a better death than he got and there was no way to make that death perfect since there was no Rosenbaum but it could have been much better. You could have had him at least move, maybe walk around with the mask on for some reason. I think they really downplayed Lex as a threat here. He had a few cameos and orchestrated some crimes but it seemed downplayed. As if he wasn’t that big of a threat. I don’t understand why Lex would choose to hide in a truck of all places. He somehow has eyes through Tess and basically around the city on everyone. Okay, but why would the brilliant Lex pick some truck. Why a truck and not anywhere else? Maybe he was just blending in but a truck? Really? Nothing else. Also correct me if I’m wrong but was that truck parked right outside of that kryptonite bomb thing Lana absorbed. If it was that’s kinda worse. Speaking of which Lana Lang… I actually don’t hate Lana as much as most fans. I liked her a lot in the first 4-5 seasons overall. I also thought she was fine in 7 but I agree she indirectly blocked some of Clark’s growth. Also the wrath episode was one massive pain to get through. That’s season 7 though. I think there are a number of problems with Lana even if I don’t find her insufferable. First of all 8 seasons into the show and she’s still here. Why? She should have probably left after like season 6 or 7. In fact the idea of her death in season 6 was really good. They ruined it in season 7 but her death in 6, would have been a great send off for the character in my opinion. However come season 8 she is now a superhero? 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻. First of all did she learn nothing from the wrath episode? It happened a season ago. I guess she can control it now or something. It’s stupid. Lana really should not have been on the show for so long. The Doomsday thing is weird for me. I love the tragedy of Davis Bloom. However I am kinda disappointed we never saw David Bloom actually fight Clark as Doomsday. I think Clark being forced to take Davis’s life as the monster would have been more powerful than just being forced to beat a monster. Oh and that Doomsday fight they built up to. I hate it. I didn’t feel anything because the Doomsday that I felt emotionally attached too was busy killing Jimmy and Clark was just fighting some beast and beat him in like under 3 minutes. When we see what the whole season was building up to it left me feeling very empty. Again that’s pretty personal so I’ll move on from that. I will say I don’t think it’s an issue Doomsday didn’t kill Clark. I think him surviving is fine. It’s a change that I don’t take much issue with. Also the weird Stiletto episode was probably my least favorite episode. Overall I’d give it like a 5/10. My least favorite season of Smallville but I would never say it’s really terrible. It has a lot of good things and bad things making for a mixed bag for me.

Just be grateful that with the episodes of Lana coming to Smallville for those episodes she's in, she doesn't have a new love interest to also pine for because that's also kind of like The Poison of the show as well in this later season. With her Aunt Neill gone and also her parents dead, she has practically nobody to advice her on the subject of love and boys which is practically what she has leaning on more often than not. And that's the poison of Lana because she's a tragic figure of a person. If she has somebody in her family tree holding her back other than her childhood friend Emily, then that's a different story. So you can't really blame her for that. Her life was ripped away and what is she holding onto for leaning on that made her became the poison? Boys and nothing else. Lana is a tragic figure from the start. So it's a good thing this season 8 got rid of her after a couple of episodes. We didn't need another poisonous Lana theme on what she's leaning on for.

Although I also consider Season 8, the worst season of Smallville, I actually still loved Season 8. And btw, one of the other reveals at the end of Season 8, was the revelation that the character who were knew as Jimmy Olsen since Season 6, was actually HENRY 'James' Olsen, the older brother of the actual James 'Jimmy' Olsen. That real James 'Jimmy' Olsen was the 9 year old kid brother who was at Henry 'James' Olsen funeral in the last episode of that season.

Just about done season 8, Smallville doesn't have a bad season but I still thought season 8 was pretty sluggish after rewatching it and I forget that Lana came back for that many episodes which was so damn annoying. I haven't watched seasons 9 or 10 since they aired but I would put season 8 at the bottom so far.

I think season 8 is the worst season of smallville out of all of them. The only thing good about it was the legion from the future. And when he fought doomsday at the end. Other than that season 8 sucked really bad. And the one thing that made me mad is the fact that it was Chloe's fault. Why Jimmy died and she never took any responsibility for it. If she Would have let Clark send Davis to the Phantom zone. When he had the chance, Jimmy would have never died.

Seasons 8 and 9 didn't hold my interest, honestly. I sometimes did or didn't care about the romance between Clark/Lana, Clark/Lois, or Chloe/Davis. Tess is a double-crossing traitor in 8 and 9 because: A. She destroys the crystal preventing Clark from sending Doomsday to the Phantom Zone. B. She finds Jor-El under Zod's request. C. She kidnaps Lois and tries to erase her memories including her vision. Davis/Doomsday became an uninteresting antagonist. Jimmy Olsen is killed off in the finale.

A nearly perfect season if you ask me. The actual fight between Clark and Doomsday may not have been the best but the buildup to it is freaking amazing. I love this season. Especially because I wasn't expecting much from it after Michael Rosenbaum left and man it blew me out of the water. This season is the season that makes me angry that Smallville had to be the pioneer for all the Arrowverse shows we have today. The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl etc. Smallville had to be the show to dip its toe in the water first and show its network that a superhero show like this could be successful. Which led to them clearly going all out for all of those other shows. It makes me mad cause I watch those shows and I'm like woah they can show that? Their budgets seem way higher than Smallville's ever was. Which is sadly the biggest flaw for me with the show is the budget for the action scenes. If the show had a bigger budget and we got a full out Clark VS Doomsday fight plus Doomsday VS Smallville's Justice League fight instead of just showing the aftermath this would've been my favorite season hands down. Because as I said the buildup to it is pretty epic especially if you actually like Davis Bloom and want to see him overcome his inner beast. The design of Doomsday looks amazing in my opinion. Best costume design other than Clarks Superman outfit in the whole show for me. I love the scene where Davis uses the black or purple Kryptonite whichever one it was to separate himself from Doomsday and he gets that like 10 seconds of feeling free at last from the demon only to crap himself seconds later as he sees it now unleashed with no restraints right in front of him. And he sees the terror that all of his victims had seen when Doomsday was still inside of him. So brutal but amazing. Another thing I like about this season is Oliver killing Lex. I liked Lex and all but he was a monster and he was never going to stop trying to kill Clark or ruin his life until he was put in the ground so good job Oliver. Which leads me to my second favorite character in the whole show. Just as Lois and Clark are about to kiss at Chloe's wedding Lana comes in and saves the day. Ha Clois fans I love that moment. This season puts the stamp on things as far as Clarks love life is concerned. Lana is Clarks true love in Smallville and she always will be. Clark had a chance to kiss Lois and submit their relationship as something more than just a friendship but one look at Lana and Clark doesn't even remember who Lois is or what he was just about to do with her. Lana using Lex's suit that he planned to use against Clark is so awesome cause it gives her a chance to be with Clark and feel what he's felt for the past 8 years, what it's like to save lives. Before to Lana Clark was just this attractive but mysterious guy who had all these secrets and would never let her in, now Lana was seeing Clark exactly for who he is and getting a better understanding of it because she was saving innocents now right alongside him. Such a great ending for her character. Thank the writers for letting her do this with Clark. But of course because this is a Superman story Clarks sadly gotta end up with Lois. And I love the way they handled Lana's final departure. The suit all this time had been absorbing Kryptonite and at a certain point after Lana stopped a bomb laced with loads of Kryptonite the Kryptonite absorbed in the suit became too much for Clark to bare. So Lana had to leave and fight crime elsewhere despite Clark desperately wanting to make it work. So poetic. At the start of the show Lana's Kryptonite necklace kept them apart and now at the end of their story Kryptonite is keeping them apart yet again.

It is a great season. The build up to Doomsday is fantastic! I agree that it was a budget thing, if the CW only knew they would've given tons more money to that season and the fight would've been unforgettable. But the Doomsday story was done so well, and the philosophy behind it was very interesting. Very good tragic ending as well. I'm not a Clana fan, lol! But I'm glad you enjoyed how they closed out her story. Erica Durance is my favorite Lois Lane and I love those two together. It's funny because by season 9 Clark has almost forgotten Lana and Lois is his world.
@JesusDelgado_49

I don't think he's forgotten her it's just like Jonathan, Martha, and Pete all huge people in his life at one point who've each made big sacrifices for Clark to be where he is today but they're all gone by season 9 and the best way he can thank them for what they've each done for him is by moving forward and taking step after step to fulfill his destiny and becoming Superman. Even if he doesn't realize it with these Red blur names. If the lady from Hourglass were still alive and were to touch his hand in season 9 if she still saw the endless gravestones with Clark at the center of them all signifying that he outlives everyone he loves, I still think Lana's name would be there it just wouldn't be as prominent cause at this point he was moving closer to Lois. I know I'm a nerd for saying this but I like to think Clark is better than us being from another planet and growing up on earth I don't think he forgets anyone even the bad people cause they've all shaped his life and in the end make him the hero we love.

Kryptonite made them apart in S1 and it did same at the end That's the only thing that can keep them apart ...nothing else Even in S10 if Lana somehow found a way to get rid of her kryptonite skin and came back to Clark he would have dumped Lois for her That's how inlove he was with her Lois will always be his second choice because she came when he had already suffered and grown But Lana was there with him during the trying times Y'all should stop being sentimental it's irritating to watch a grown ass man like you who says he's a Christian be so judgmental and close minded about this

I get where you’re coming from. I think a huge part of what made this so hard for me, was knowing he ends up with Lois. I love all the Kryptonian lore, and it felt like the Lana stuff slowed all that down - which drove me nuts knowing he doesn’t end up with her anyway. The reason I thought she was self centered was because of season 7 when she got Clark’s powers. Her immediate reaction was to think she was better than him, and smarter than him with all that power…the power he spent his life learning to live with and use properly. And overall when Lana and Clark were together, I felt neither of them were happy. It felt like they put the weight of the world on each other’s shoulders. With Lois, they laughed and smiled. She both grounded him and helped him soar. All that said, this is one of my all time favorite shows. That’s why I have strong opinions about it. I think Kristen did a great job with the material she was given. I didn’t love the Lana stuff, but I respect all the work the actors and crew put into this show.

I get that a lot of people got imprinted with Lana, but you're just wrong, sorry. Lana is set up as an unreliable character from the first episode. Her bf walks out of the frame, and she starts flirting with Clark. This is repeated over the seasons, for example S5 when she leaves her future FIL's election victory party to see Lex. She has no interest for anything outside her own personal drama. In contrast to Lois who shares Clarks passion for justice. I also don't see her having made any sacrifices, maybe you can name some examples?
@JesusDelgado_49

@@floodgates182 Lana does share Clark’s passion for justice, which is why in season 8 when she put on Lex’s suit she helps him fight crime. And when Clark’s fighting it with her by his side he seems the happiest. Also in the Smallville comic even after she leaves Clark’s side she continues to fight for Justice, just not in smallville or Metropolis. Sacrifices Lana made: she sacrificed her time and waited for Clark to be ready to tell her about his origins rather than pressing the matter. She also sacrificed her freedom from Lex as Lionel threatened he would kill Clark if she didn’t marry Lex.
@floodgates182
@floodgates182 4 ай бұрын
@@JesusDelgado_49 I'm sorry, but I don't see her relative happiness in the season 8 spell having anything to do with being able to do justice. She's consistently shown in prior seasons that she's primarily motivated by her own interests, and I see her working with Clark in the same light: she's been wanting to be worthy of Clark and feels that having those powers makes her such. Lionel certainly sacrificed her, but as that wasn't her choice, so she didn't sacrifice, she was victimised. Which is sad, she really has a very sad arc. She also didn't wait for Clark to tell her, she made a trap and caught him, remember?
@JesusDelgado_49
@JesusDelgado_49 4 ай бұрын
@@floodgates182 Does Clark not deliver justice on a weekly basis? She was doing exactly what Clark was doing during those episodes. Unlike Lex, Lana once she finds out Clark’s secret can look back at all the times she was rescued from near death and appreciate it not try to kill Clark. She understands just how incredible he is and the hero he already is and wants to contribute to that cause anyway she can. Whether it be behind a computer or out there on the field with him. So when she gets Lex’s suit and now she can help him out she jumps on that chance. Here’s her opportunity to help pay back Clark for all the good he’s done for her and all of their friends. So she fights crime with him and delivers justice. And she continues to deliver justice past the show into the comic. I disagree, she could’ve easily left Lex and called Lionel’s bluff and seen if Lionel had it in him. But she sacrificed her freedom to ensure Clark’s safety. An act of complete selflessness btw. Chloe did that. Lana had no idea what they were doing Chloe dragged her to a spot where they could hide and set Clark up to use his powers. Lana would’ve waited til the comics for Clark to be ready to reveal his powers.
