Great video thank you very much! One question, do you know where the coolant bleed valve/plug is on the Diesel CDI engine? I did a cooling flush on my 2009 ForTwo CDI but could not find the bleed point location that I know should be near the cylinder head to bleed the air out of the tubing. Now the car is overheating with the water not circulating and I guess full of air pockets everywhere. I've searched all over the Internet and the all the information available is only for the gasoline engine not the diesel. Thank you very much😊😊😊

Hi Eben- Thanks for the great videos, they have been teaching me how to care for my car. I have a question about this one though- Do you have to bleed the cooling system after changing the coolant in a Smart car? I didn't see you do that in this video. Thank you!
@Syntheticoilprotection5 жыл бұрын
Most likely you will not have to bleed the system on that car because it's a very small system. If you want to drain it completely you will need a special tool and it's a Mercedes tool to take the c-clip out to drain it and you can do that if you want to get the tool. What I did was I did a pasic drain and fill out of the reservoir which the reservoir mixes with the radiator and that allows you to dream about a third at a time. So what I did in the video is I drain and filled the reservoir a bunch of times and drove it to get it hot to change as much as I could because I didn't have the tool to drain it properly. The most important thing is that you change as much of the fluid as you can and that way your system won't get any corrosion. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out to me anytime. Also I recommend getting the Amsoil Dominator coolant boost and the low toxicity biodegradable coolant the yellow bottle and you can mix that with distilled water to make a 50/50 mix. thanks for being a part of my KZbin Community Katie🤟 Eben Rockmaker Independent AMSOIL Specialist (Dealer#: 5331179) Mobile: (702) 472-3614 My link: AMSOIL 25% Less Wholesale & FREE SHIPPING: www.amsoil.com/offers/?zo=5331179 AMSOIL Makes it for your Vehicle Lookup - www.amsoil.com/guides.aspx?zo=5331179 If your vehicle is not on the lookup guide this is AMSOIL Tech Support 715-399-8324

@@Syntheticoilprotection Ah that makes sense. I don't want to have to get the tool so I bought an extraction pump and will just do what you recommended. Thanks so much for this video!

@@Syntheticoilprotection coolant drain plug is under the motor NO suction pump necessary NO “SPECIAL TOOL” necessary. also why would you need to pump the brake peddal did you do a break fluid change aswell?
@notouriosdja6 жыл бұрын
does it pump it all out? including whats already still in the engine, dont u have to drain it engine side too?
@Syntheticoilprotection6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need to drain it from the engine if you have the specialty tool so what I did was I drain and fill the reservoir a couple times and did it that way. The best way is to get the proper tool and drain it

do you know how to flush the heater core? Where it is?
@Syntheticoilprotection2 жыл бұрын
The best thing would be to fill it with distilled water and drain it completely and circulate it with the heater on high this video will demonstrate the process - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2XPo2lvnap9ibM

so, in order to take out the whole old fluid, correct me if I understood it wrong: you "pull out" the old fluid from the reservoir with the pump, fill it up with new one, run about a week with the car, take fluid out and refill again, and repeat the process about three or four times? in order to have a fully cleaned up cooling system, that´s it? (I *REALLY* don´t want to take the whole smart front end apart just to replace the coolant as taught in sites like Evilution)
@Syntheticoilprotection5 жыл бұрын
That's what I did!

What is the "proper tool" you keep speaking of?
@Syntheticoilprotection11 ай бұрын
It may be a hose clamp to hold the clamp or a hose pick you have to wiggle off the hose and to get to it could be very difficult depending on the angle but ideally you want to take the bottom hose off to drain the radiator unless there's a drain area on the car I'm not aware of that so you have to find a way to drain it and most cars that are tough you just have to pull the hose off that's the best way depending on the age of the hose it could rip so then you want to make sure you have the ability to replace that hose if you rip it when you take it off that's why certain things with radiators are more difficult also the plastic can get brittle and you can crack it so you have to be very careful so at worst case scenario you have to be able to be okay replacing the hoses and or have the ability to replace a radiator if you crack a piece of plastic that's the one thing I don't like about radiator services and I always avoid that for my videos as if I was someone doing it by myself because the last thing you want to do is try to change 50 bucks worth of coolant and end up spending $800 getting the car repaired because it's something you broke that's why I play it safe in most of my videos for people that do not have every tool like an expert mechanic

At the end you said "opened it up and closed it etc". What do you mean by it? Do I have to get some air out of the system or something? Car noob.. sorry lol
@Syntheticoilprotection6 жыл бұрын
Basically, you just refill it. I would have liked to drain it from the bottom however you need a special tool. I believe the best thing to do in that car is just Pump It Out fill it Pump It Out fill it about three to four times.
@Rockelement6 жыл бұрын
Hey. I did have the "special tool" it was just a 6mm hex on my 07? I basically drained out the old coolent and flushed the system with a radiator cleaner. After that I filled it up with coolent..And when I start the car now it goes a few minutes at the temp gets very hot. If I drive it for like 3 min it's almost at max. I tried getting air out of the coolent holder tilting the vechile different ways..revving the engine while having the cap open.. Still no good. Do you have any suggestions for what might be wrong on my diesel 07? Help is much appreciated.
@Syntheticoilprotection6 жыл бұрын
@@Rockelement Usually I just idle the car with the coolant cap off and it pulls the radiator Cooling in and I never have any trouble with air bubbles. I would just drain and refill it again. Potentially could be something stuck in the thermostat. Also I would only use 30% coolant 70% water so your car runs cooler. If you live in a very cold area then you want to run 50-50 50% antifreeze 50% distilled water. Also when you put flushing sometimes you can break up clots and the flush could have broken up something that's stuck. I would drain and fill that little guy a couple more times
@Rockelement6 жыл бұрын
Do you know where the thermostat is on the diesel engine? I live in a cold area so I need 50/50 ;) Maybe something is clogged.. but I did flush water thru the system multiple times after the radiator cleaner. Hmm.. Thanks for suggestions.
@Syntheticoilprotection6 жыл бұрын
@@Rockelement Not sure I would get the engine book on that car if you can find it online or pick it up at the dealer. I'm guessing it's a corroded thermostat or something stuck if it's overheating
