Smart Cities: Privacy and Autonomy

Smart City initiatives are popping up across Canada, and leading to some questions about privacy and autonomy. I did a deep dive into some of the very real concerns that I am hearing from people all over the country.

The fact this isn't being openly discussed in the media is pretty concerning. It's one of the reasons why I'm pretty vocal about suggesting people get out of big cities. Not only have they been turned into homeless slums, but are being deliberately crippled to justify the "need" for mass surveillance and the suppression of privacy and self-agency. These places will become glorified prisons under the guise of convenience and safety, but what happens if you happen to suffer from a bit too much wrong think? That one shouldn't be hard to figure out, given our government's track record in the last few years.

Klaus Schwab and his allies want to dictate to regulators, social media companies, and other tech firms, their definitions for what constitutes “hate speech,” “misinformation,” or disinformation.” Interestingly, the WEF makes no mention of cracking down on speech that could be linked to serious crimes such as terrorism or child abuse, nor does the organization mention targeting false information. Apparently, the WEF is more concerned with cracking down on political speech or information that may undermine its agenda.

My experience being employed by large corporations has taught me that they, for example, search my backpack and vehicle only if I sign a consent form, but if I DON’T consent, I lose my job! 15 Minute cities were built with great success by Germany in the 40's - next came a wall went up around them and a sign reading "Getto" graced the entrance. I fear that PP's idea of Early 60' Soviet style housing complexes will not spark the economy, but rather set stage for more potential government control. We need a smaller government - not one that grows and expands every year. All i see is another framework that will speed us to larger government and political systems akin to what we saw in USSR and fought against in the second world war. This is just one reason i see our current establishment in politics as a #Uniparty .. because no matter which of the 2 leaders our mainstream media has been paid to groom the public to accept, the result is increase of government and globalist policies either way. People are sick of it, they want Government out of their lives - not an increase in rules, regulations, restrictions, and fees or taxation.

In fact, the present undermining of western society, of which the surveillance and control mechanisms of smart cities is a part, is fundamentally judgements being imposed upon these godless societies by God in accordance with the consequences specified in the Mosaic curse. Hopefully many many more individuals will respond to God's coercive judgements and repent of their sin and change their lives. It is such people whom God is helping. Unfortunately however any wholesale or national/governmental repentance is not to be expected, so know that those Mosaic curse consequences will only increase. Read Deuteronomy 28 or Leviticus 26 or both for details of those consequences which should be expected.

If this goes through there is no privacy. No safeguards will last even if they worked. It’s surveillance. That’s the purpose. Right down to how often you use the toilet! The 15 minute cities concept has already been implemented in the UK. Cameras capture license plates and if you’re outside the zone there is a fee or fine. Anyone whose lived in a city knows that most everything you need is usually within 15 minutes, unless you want to go to a different service further away that you prefer. Knowing that why would there be a need to divide a city into 15 minute zones unless it’s to restrict movement?

Smart cities rely on your tax dollars to reduce road access and traffic. Causing congestion when using a vehicle is a goal, if it takes a person as long to travel in a car as it does to walk or use a bike then the alternatives are more present as options. Smart cities is about reducing freedom of movement as much as reducing energy usage in developed countries so lesser developed countries can expand and thrive with less cost. This is really about corporate access to new markets and less about the environment than people think.

Instead of packing more people into a mega city, I think it's much smarter if investments is made in infrastructure to better providing commuting at a cheaper price, we have our Go Trains and transit but their 'speed' and timing isn't better than the value we spent on them. Cheaper housing outside of the big cities and more connecting rails and transit between them would naturally allow growth without absolutely relying on the car industry in order to have full independence... Of course in the end corporate interest is an issue.

I'd like to see municipalities focus on things that matter the most and have no problem with municipalities securely extracting, analyzing and exploiting vast amounts of pseudo-anonymized user data to optimize expenditures and resources on transportation routes, waste management, accessible parks and recreation spaces. Used responsively surveillance technology can prevent security threats, improve emergency response capabilities, infrastructure maintenance, snow removal, and urban planning in general. Smart municipalities can operate with less employees by providing residents self-service access to digital information resources, and to subscribe and pay for municipal services from their homes or other locations on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis - WITHOUT INCREASING OUR PROPERTY TAXES.

I will always choose analog over digital. A smart city is not needed nor required. Personal data and privacy will become a massive issue... but governments right down to municipal do not wiah it to be talked about within the public.
