I believe that you may have mistakenly neglected to hit the “learn" button when auditioning the goup mode. All you were doing was auditioning the individually eq-ed parts in a group visual GUI. I think you have to hit the learn button in group mode, in order for the groups to adjust the competing frequencies intelligently.
@ST-fl5fy2 жыл бұрын
Yup he didn't hit Learn on the full mix of groups

If the individual tracks already been learned (as in this instance) you don't need to re-learn them for the group mode to work, although you can if you wish.

I an so impressed with this plugin. The ability to drag group elements forward and back on the fly is fantastic. A next-step improvement in my opinion would be being able to automate where you could move group elements forward and back throughout the mix.

This is the kind of tutorial that I love: straight to the point, and without the endless explanations. For all the basic stuff I use the manual. Anyway, I'm new to mixing, and I have the whole Sonible range, but up to this tutorial, I've not used a single one. I hope that you have tutorials available on the rest of the series as well. My question: is there a way to move part of layer 1 further back, whilst bringing parts of the lower levels to the front? For instance: a piano solo obviously will be on layer 1, but a few measures later, the piano needs to move back so that what used to be background, can now move forward as solo.

Right now, smart:EQ 3 needs at least one active network adapter to use the group processing feature, since we're sharing data among instances using the UDP network protocol. That means that you do not necessarily need an active internet connection, but an active network adapter (e.g. LAN or WiFi). That said, we're already working on an update to get rid of this restriction. ;)

@@SonibleCom I used Netbarrier to block all out- and incoming external internet connections but allowed local connections (in a WLAN network with Logic Pro X). With this setup, groups in smart:EQ3 are working fine! - But of course, I would prefer a method without any network connections like the iZotope Neutron EQ can do!

11:05 Up to 6 instances? What if i have e.g. 20 tracks to be handled?
@SonibleCom3 жыл бұрын
You can have 6 instances per group - but you can create multiple groups. So in a first step, you could process individual tracks or smaller groups and send the already processed results to busses. In a next step, you can then use a "master" instance to balance out the individual busses using group processing. That way, you can nicely use smart:EQ 3 on larger projects.

Group mode freezes my ableton whenever I add an instance...sometimes I can get it up to 3 instances and then adding the 4th freezes it, but sometimes I can't even add one and it freezes lol. EQ is cool, but group mode is broken for me if anyone knows of a fix.

I have some questions about the “smart”,If we do the processing for some reasons in mixing,what is the purpose by AI processing?If you think the track is sound better than before in solo mode,dose it sound better in whole song mixing too?

I'm very excited about this plugin. Not having tried it yet, I'm quite intrigued by the "add instance from another group" button. Does this mean that you can mix 6 sources in one group, create yet another group and add the output of the first group there as one of 6 more sources?

I have been comparing smarteq2 to 3. Pretty strange that 2 always attenuates low end on drums, 3 all of a sudden always boosts. For me it's just a marketing trick to call it artificial intelligence, I suppose it's only presets with a random function on a new singnal. It's always more or less the same eq curves for each category like drums, bass etc
@cryptopolice62023 жыл бұрын
I agree. Can't see how it would be anything else than a "match EQ" with the option to make it "dynamic match EQ" , and their proximity EQ tech intergraded in the group tab. Nevertheless, useful tool for many (if not everyone), in my opinion. Would have been greater if there were more genre specific sources to match to, though. :) "AI" is always just nonsense with tools like these. That's for sure.

can it be used like soothe2 to eliminate resonances?
@joechapman82083 жыл бұрын
Kind of, but not really. He doesn't mention it, but you can put it in Dynamic mode so it's constantly updating itself. I wouldn't say it's the same as Soothe, though. Soothe is making lightning-fast adjustments in the hope of its cuts getting out of the way of the core sound as soon as the resonance is absent, whereas Smart:EQ is more sedate in its movements and corrects in a tone-shaping kind of way. Smart:EQ is not a replacement for Soothe, and then again Soothe can't do Smart:EQ's job either. It's more like a middle ground between Izotope's Auto-assistant and Gullfoss's AI.

From Sonible's website: In which DAWs do sonible plug-ins work? You can use our plug-ins in *any DAW/host that supports AU, VST2, VST3 and AAX (64 bit) for Mac or VST2, VST3 and AAX (64 bit) for Windows* . We test our plug-ins prior to any release or update extensively with the latest versions of the following DAWs. Logic Pro Ableton Live Pro Tools 11+ Reaper Cubase Nuendo *FL Studio* If I had to guess why you were having problems, I'd wager it's because you're trying to add it on the channel rack instead of the mixer. Alternatively, it could be that you didn't go to manage plugins>scan new plugins/point FL to the file directory where you install your VSTs. My last theory would be that you're on a 32bit CPU OR running FL in 32bit mode, which (if you're on a 64bit system) you should NEVER do.
