Smart Fortwo Turbo replacement (451 Brabus)

Taking the turbo off my 451 was a bear 🐻 but the shiny new turbo is on and my boost issue is finally solved!

I got lucky and bought it on ebay. It was new old stock.

I took mine apart yesterday and just sprayed wd40 lube on to the outside of the little flappy thingy lol and it works fine now

I wish it was that easy for me. I soaked mine in penetrant, but it was welded shut with too many heat cycles.

poor quality turbo from the factory not abnormal people have got it replaced on the warranty after 55000 km... the CDI451 54HP is a troubled acquaintance

Very good friend, I have one too and the turbo died, where did you buy it? My engine is a 600cc 55hp.

Shouldn't be a bearing but most of the wastegate arms can be pressed out. You can probably press it out and clean the hole and the arm. Reinstall it and have a backup turbo or sell it as a working used unit.

im having a problem with mine 451 brabus... manifold crash some pieces and they pass to turbo.... you think i will need a new turbo and a new manifold?

I have no idea. You'd have to take the manifold off and look for hairline cracks.

How much power will this turbine generate?

It makes 100hp stock. Can be remapped to 120 I believe.

Pushing beyond 120 will require a bigger turbo, but the stock gearbox should handle more. I've not done it myself so you'll need to do your own research. Check out Big Performance in the UK.

I've never heard of anyone getting that much from the stock engine. If you're looking for 200bhp, I suggest buying a different car. Even if you could get a turbo big enough, the lag would be terrible and I seriously doubt the gearbox could take it.

Stock motor. I no longer own the car, but it was on stock power - 100bhp.

I have a problem with code P006e any chance you can help me out on how to solve it, pretty desperate at this point and can't afford a mechanic 😭. First it was my up/down oxygen sensor now this p006e (I replaced all the spark plugs and gas cap as well)

But can't find it, I tried to take it back to the dealer too but they no longer service them since they stopped selling them in the U.S. and regular mechanics don't really work on them so the bill will be more than what the car is worth 😭😭😭

I'm thinking that he's in a 450 model because the 451 in the U.S that model doesn't have turbo.

It's a 451 Brabus, which has a turbo. I'm located in Ireland 🇮🇪.

I don't, but the car was imported from the UK where salting the roads during winter is more common. There was no rust on the body thankfully. Car is sold now 😉

Irish cars are generally not that bad (compared to UK cars) but the turbo bolts were very very rusty. It was a UK import, so that says it all...

Not sure, but I'd suggest contacting Ian at Big Performance in the UK. He makes performance exhaust manifolds as well as other performance options.
