I just started “collecting” the preschool skill sharpeners for my almost 3 year old and am so obsessed. I’m thinking of holding them off until fall when she would be officially a 3K student even though I want to use them already! I’m just hoping having her in the preschool stuff at age three and then the kindergarten at age 4K won’t be a big issue or confuse my brain! I don’t plan to push her through all the lessons each day everyday at 3 so maybe it will take us awhile longer to pace them out as she’s ready for them!

I appreciate that you showed the difference between level 1 and 2. I have an 8yr old, he's done 1st grade twice and is so profoundly dyslexic he still is unable to read. I thought this might be great to try but that leap between levels is too extreme for my son!

I totally agree! That jump was a LOT!

I agree with you on which book to pick! Those seem great! Totally ordering! Have you ever done reading eggs or mathseeds online for your kids? I'm fairly new to your channel so not sure if you do any online learning for them. Well reading eggs is amazing and they have workbooks that go along with it! You can do them alone or go along with the online stuff. But I bought an entire pack! Its huge and the workbooks are so great and they come with these little books your child reads as well!

I have done Reading Eggs on and off but we haven't found something that my kids just really enjoy. So, we kinda struggle through everything till the end of the year. LOL!

@@FullPurposeAndHeart aww that stinks! I love it and it works well for us! But these evan moor books look great! I bet that's gonna be my new jam for sure! We just bought some spectrum books that were suggested to us. They were fine but not amazing like I'm looking for. I also bought some Kumon workbooks and I like those more for sure. I'll def let you know how my girl gets along with Evan Moor books! I always end up buying more than I need but I'm going to stick with just them this time!

Thank you so much, this has been so helpful. One question - do you use this as your core curriculum or is it a supplement?
@FullPurposeAndHeart2 жыл бұрын
Typically as a supplement although there have been seasons when this is all they get. It just depends on how interested they are in the book. My oldest didn't care so much about it, but when my next one came along, she LOVES it.

Do you know the difference between the skill sharpeners reading vs.. daily reading comprehension for grade 1 ?
@FullPurposeAndHeart3 жыл бұрын
Color. 100%. And activities. Daily reading comprehension is just a passage followed by comprehension questions. Skill sharpeners has grammar and spelling and writing incorporated. Personal opinion: skill sharpeners is more engaging.

Oh my goodness! Please don’t edit the endings. That is real life of a KZbinr. I got SS Reading 2 for my daughter this coming school year. We’ll alternate one week of SS and one week reading an actual book from our grade level booklist from Sonlight.❤️

LOL! Right! I'm such a goober. I love the idea of SS alternating with an actual book! Great suggestion
