I'm black and I definitely wasn't raised on this. My church was strictly hymnal based so I didn't hear a lot of "gospel" until I was in college. Me trying to incorporate the little blues and rock guitar runs I knew into gospel failed miserably. So now I'm in the research phase just like anyone else 🤦🏽‍♂️. Quartet gospel and gospel seems mostly like jazz and fast "chicken pickin"
