As a musician music runs through your veins, it’s something you feel, you can learn it but it won’t sound the same if you can’t feel it!!

Really helpful! Black gospel is tricky to guitarists who are not so familiar with the style. You either have to do good research or be raised with it. Lol

Seeing the level of guitarrist coming from that background it is obviously an amazing school for timing, playing in the pocket, stamina, transmitting joy and enthusiasm. Pitty this did not exist where I grew up.

I'm black and I definitely wasn't raised on this. My church was strictly hymnal based so I didn't hear a lot of "gospel" until I was in college. Me trying to incorporate the little blues and rock guitar runs I knew into gospel failed miserably. So now I'm in the research phase just like anyone else 🤦🏽♂️. Quartet gospel and gospel seems mostly like jazz and fast "chicken pickin"
