I absolutely love this KZbin engineering crossover. Both Shane and Destin are experts who have been tremendous respect for each other. - Destin is a man who brings excitement and knowledge (and a highspeed camera) in spades. - Shane is a man (with the face of a boy) who uses his knowledge and many resources to bring nothing but highly tested insanity to the field. These two bounce perfectly off each other. This episode felt more like a comptetition in who can be more humble rather than who can hit the ball farther. Love both you guys! Watched both of you heavily before this video and was just waiting for the collab to happen.

@soymoder4 жыл бұрын
It’s like you want each component to hit max velocity at the same time. Elasticity adds delay. So one way syncing can be accomplished by matching elasticity. This is always how I’ve thought about projectile biomechanics. For any swing or throw, you want your shoulders, upper arms, forearms, and wrists to all hit max velocity right at the point of contact (assuming adequate control). It’s like a whip. This is also ideally at the point of full extension, which is why a clean follow-through is important.

This is a really intuitive and relatable way to explain this. Good job. :)

So glad you did a collab with Shane, he does some really cool stuff. Your boisterous personality and his dry wit are a great combo. I see three hurdles you need to overcome. 1) consistent contact 2) consistent launch angle 3) backspin For consistent contact, you need to make the plate flat, not curved, and you need it at least 30% higher than the ball diameter For consistent loft, you need to habe that plate at an angle so you only need to make a level swing For back spin you need to have some sort of groove with edges at an angle to bite on to the ball. I am far from an engineer and being dyslexic, I don't do well with large formulas so the launch angle and spin are things that you would have to test out and those would be dictated by speed. With a golf driver, a ball speed of 200 mph a good launch angle and spin combo is about 10 deg and 2000 rpm for the best distance. This will be different for a baseball based on seams verses threads, but probably in the ballpark (intended😉) I would guess that you could easily hit over 800' by improving launch and spin conditions. Also, paint your ball so it is easier to find.
