Thank you for letting me visit and letting me TIG weld a bit. Some thoughts moving forward... I think the performance of the explosive bat design might be HELPED by the mad batter, but HURT by the supersonic cannon. The Mad Batter relies on squish and rebound, so my theory is that a higher pitching velocity would help normal bats.... but I think higher pitching velocities might actually perform worse with the explosive bat design. I'm thinking this because of the way we saw the bat initially slow down at impact.

About turning the bat into a golf club: There is a commercially available golf club that uses the exact same principle you use here with the bat. You load in a certain number of blank shells and the ball will fly different distances depending on how many are loaded. It's primarily used by those with disabilities in moving their arms and allows them to still play golf. It's remarkably consistent in terms of accuracy and distance from what I've seen.

Not to be a buzzkill, but it's pretty unlikely anyone actually hit the ball 575 feet.. Now that we have actual laser measurements and camera systems designed to track the ball electronically, and aren't relying on eyeball accountsany more, no one in Major League history has hit a ball further than 504 feet. Still a mammoth shot but not quite 575.
@juanmanuelcruzmonterrosas29247 ай бұрын
@@michaelwarner278There are two things here. Firstly, he is hitting a steady ball, which means he is not adding any extra force, just the one generated by his arms + explosion. Secondly, when you are hitting a ball in a normal match, you need to consider the force that the pitcher is applying to the ball, which is added to the one generated by the player and the bat. Considering that they are pros and practice every single day, they apply much more force to the ball. If you do the math, you will see how that affects the final result.

Haven't watched the vid about that contraption... but I question how quickly it spins up... because if the bat spinner spins up fast enough, the inertia of the piston and contact plate might be enough to fire the shells. And that piston being launched in a random direction... well... unsafe is probably the mildest term to use. There's also an upper limit to how much abuse a baseball can take. He's stupid af and it's sad that you people find this impressive. Let's just start it off by his welding aluminum. No. The plates aluminum. No. Nothing about the design of the lever bat would logically work. Wtf? His aluminum plates busted time and time again. He keeps using it. His chambers aluminum that he's putting primers in. The dude's stupid. He calls it a .50 cal. It's not. He's using .27 cal blank PRIMERS. He's tripping over forces that are next to nothing compared to the force you feel while holding any larger caliber fire arm. Smh... He's pretty damn dumb, with some cool tools, and a wimp. Lol maybe if he'd gone to school for his field.. He'd at least know what materials to use. Also not weld the damn aluminum. Anyone that went to trade school for mechanics or welding knows that welded aluminum's an absolute NO GO for structural integrity. Hell they don't even weld it in air planes for integrity. They fasten it! Bolts. Rivets. He needs to go to school for mechanical engineering.

2 major obstacles, for your weekend plan. 1. to get into orbit you need to accelerate outside of the athmosphere, to make your suborbital trajectory, that goes away and back to the earth, into an orbital trajectory, that goes around. So you would need a little bit of extra force applied to the ball once its, at its highest point. You can minimize the force required to do this, by having a very shallow asced with lots of horizontal speed. The problem with this solution thou, is that your ball will spend more time in the athmosphere, which means more drag. And that brings us right to the next problem: 2. Drag!, its late in the night and therefor i will not theorize about the second problem to much. IF however the problem is not selfexplenatory to you & you are interested, i suggest you look into why "space-guns", big artillery pieces that shoot satelites, and a small uperstage, outside of the athmosphere, never took of the ground, since its the same problem. On celestial bodies without athmosphere, they could work well thou.
@caliberspecificreload3 жыл бұрын
I'm late to this game... As it were. I reload my own ammo and seeing this, and considering that you're dealing with essentially gun parts and pressures like my Magnum rifle @ 64k PSI, if you haven't had perfect results, I'd suggest considering the use of buffer tube springs w/triple braided springs and using the barrels of a .270 Winchester or a 6.5PRC for your gas travel barrels. You know... If you haven't already perfected it. You're likely getting the same pressures as the chamber of a rifle depending on what type of powder those cartridges are loaded with. But they are probably fast burning pistol powder and you might have better results with a slightly slower burning rifle powder. My physics knowledge is limited to that of firearm ballistics so I'm not sure how much will apply to this venture but guns are designed to tolerate the task you have set so I'd encourage adapting the parts to suit your purposes.

The best solution for this is to apply a choke exhaust port and to apply baffles like what a gun suppressor does. The expanding gas is no where to go thus it create a lot of impact stress to the metal. if you channeled a exhaust port with baffles it will significantly reduce the expanding on gas giving a chance for the piston rod to decelerate (you can use hydraulic as replacement to a spring so it is not impact metal to metal).
