This painting has always struck my soul deeply. Mantegna was clearly overlooked, he was a Master ahead of his time.

I drew Mantegna's Lamentation when I was a girl, and the image is very meaningful to me. Thank you for your reverent, knowledgeable discussion. As usual, I am grateful for both of you and your work. God bless you.

Thanks to your earlier video on this work, this has become easily one of my favorite paintings. It's nice to see it revisited!

As Christians we are told to REMEMBER the death of Christ, and what it means for us. As Beth touched on, the Heavenly Father came to earth to pay for the wrongs of his creatures. His resurrection conquered death and guarantees eternal life to those who want it.

Oh my... I love getting old... I'm always experiencing something new in life especially with examples as this here. I've never seen or would have imagined this perspective. So cool as I am a Jesusfreak 😂.

This painting strikes me so deeply. I’m not even religious yet it hurts. He was right when he said there is no relief from any part of this painting

Does anyone know what the dimensions of the painting are? For some reason I just wondered how big it is.
